Continue ReadingCathedral Catholic topped Folsom 33-21 on Friday night to capture the school’s third state title. The game was headlined by one of the top RBs in San Diego and possibly the most underrated in the state at the position, and a blue-chip WR with offers from SEC and Pac-12 schools. Below are the top performers from the championship game:
Lucky Sutton Lucky Sutton 6'1" | 205 lbs | RB Cathedral Catholic | 2022 State CA – RB, 2022, Cathedral Catholic
Sutton capped off an incredibly productive playoff run with 30 carries for 232 yards and a TD against Folsom following his 435-yard and 7 TD performance in the Regional game. Sutton’s likely the biggest recruiting stock-riser in the state after rushing for over 1,000 yards and 15 TDs in the playoffs alone. He’s a talented playmaker with the size, speed, and athleticism to play at a major D-I. Sutton currently holds offers from several Mountain West schools including SDSU, San Jose St., and Nevada with a P-5 offer likely on the horizon.

– QB, 2022, Cathedral Catholic
Mirer accounted for 3 TDs including 2 through the air to Haynes and a 28-yard QB sneak that sealed the game. The son of former NFL QB, Rick Mirer, Charlie has great size at 6’6”/225 lbs. with a strong, accurate arm. He showed his ability to challenge secondaries over the top on both TDs to Haynes finding him on post and corner routes out of play-action. Mirer is likely to see more D-I interest coming his way with a P-5 offer from Michigan in hand.

Rex Haynes Rex Haynes 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR Cathedral Catholic | 2022 State CA – WR, 2022, Cathedral Catholic
Haynes was efficient and productive with his targets catching 2 passes both for TDs. The D-I prospect was the favorite target for Mirer this season with a talented skillset of speed, hands, and body control. He’s an athletic receiver that can stretch the defense downfield and produce explosive plays over the top. Haynes has deep ties to ASU, who has offered him, as his father was a football All-American for the Sun Devils in the 70s. Other offers he holds: SDSU, Fresno St., and Colorado St.

Rico Flores Rico Flores 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Folsom | 2023 State CA – WR, 2023, Folsom
Flores, one of the top WR recruits in California, was a consistent target throughout the game catching 9 passes for 106 yards. Flores is an explosive playmaker with elite speed, athleticism, and body control. He runs crisp, smooth routes and finishes plays with strong hands. Flores will be playing on Saturdays with offers from Alabama and a handful of Pac-12 schools.

Austin McMillan- WR, 2022, Folsom
The senior WR caught both of QB Tyler Tremain’s TD passes and totaled 6 catches for 91 yards. He’s a savvy receiver that can create space with crafty routes and shows great hands and concentration catching in traffic over the middle. He’s an especially reliable receiver running short-intermediate routes. McMillan could be on the verge of picking up his first FCS offer in the near future after his strong senior season.
