St. Mary’s scored four plays into the game and never looked back.
The Dragons, ranked No. 1 heading into the state playoffs, handed Pius a second straight loss in a championship game. Last fall, after losing 6-3 to Lamar in the Class 2 title game, Pius received the most-lopsided loss in MSHSAA history. The previous mark was a 54-0 win by Blair Oaks over Lathrop in 2018 in the Class 2 finals.

He tossed a 26-yard touchdown play on the opening drive and St. Mary’s needed just a little more than 1 ½ minutes to get on the board. His 26-yard touchdown pass was the first of three touchdown passes, as he went 6 for 10 for 204 yards. He added 71 yards and a pair of scores running the ball, including a touchdown run that probably covered about 70 yards as he avoided at least five tacklers. He had only four rushing touchdowns this year, two in this game covering 28 and 23 yards.

On the fourth play of the game, Coleman out jumped two Warriors defender who had him heavily covered for the touchdown. The five-star recruit had only two caches in the game for 97 yards, the other was a 71-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He finished with 985 yards receiving on 36 catches and 17 touchdowns this fall. Since the title game, he had an in-home visit from the Florida State staff and visited the University of Miami.
Donovan McIntosh, WR/DB, 2023
McIntosh had big plays on both sides of the ball. He had a 45-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, which was his only reception of the game. He also had a 28-yard interception return for a touchdown in the quarter, which made it 35-0 and put the game into turbo clock territory. The Pius offense ran the ball 22 times for minus-5 yards and tallied only 114 yards of total offense.

After St. Mary’s opening-drive score, Ross took the kickoff and returned it 53-yards to get the ball into the Dragons’ side of the field, but that drive ended with a punt. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder was second on the team with six tackles in the finals. He was top receiver in terms of yards with 67 yards on three catches. His final season numbers was 43 catches for 771 yards and nine touchdowns. Ross currently has offers from Kansas, Iowa State and Iowa.

In his final football game, Mosh completed 14 of 24 passes for 119 yards. The Missouri baseball signee threw for 2,108 yards with 30 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was terrorized by the Dragons’ defense, getting sacked three times and finishing with minus-15 yards rushing on seven carries. Only three ball carriers had positive yards against St. Mary’s and two of those runners had only 1 yard.

He tied Ross for second on the team in tackles in the finals with six, while having the team’s only tackle for loss. He finished the year with a team-high 112 tackles, while adding five sacks and two forced fumbles. He has offers from William Jewell and Iowa Wesleyan, while visiting schools like Pittsburg State, Missouri and Kansas. Two other players reached the century mark in tackles for the Warriors: John Caime (101) and Shane Dorian (100). Caime has signed to play baseball at Crowder College. Dorian has an offer from MidAmerica Nazarene and visited Baker.
