Last week Catholic High School won the Division I championship beating Jesuit by the score of 14-10 and this week another area school, the Southern Lab Kittens look to claim another championship as they take on the Ouachita Christian Eagles. The Kittens and Eagles will play Friday, December 10, 2021 at 12 pm noon. School officials from Southern Lab and Ouachita Christian spoke and agree to move the game from Lafayette to New Orleans so that the game could be played in the Superdome.

The Southern Lab football team has been ranked all year and is one of the best teams in the state and they are lead on defense by Shane Forman. Kittens Senior linebacker is a solo wrecking crew. He’s a rare combination of size, speed, power and attitude when he is making tackles and Forman has accounted for over 100 tackles this season for the talented Southern Lab defense.
As Southern Lab prepares for their trip to the dome Forman stated that at first it felt like a dream because only so many people can say they played for a state championship. Now it’s just remaining calm, being focused and just doing what got us to this point. Forman is a part of rich family history and tradition at Southern Lab and Louisiana high school sports. His father, Shannon Forman who is one of the best basketball players to ever lace them up in Louisiana was an amazing student-athlete during his time at Southern Lab, winning four (4) LHSAA Basketball State Championships and his brother, Shannon Forman Jr. (Arizona St. football player), was also a member of the last Southern Lab football team that won a title in 2016. What an exciting experience for the Forman family as they will be at the game rooting for Shane and the Kittens as the look to capture another championship and add to the storied athletic tradition of Louisiana high school sports.

Madison Prep Chargers CB / WR had a spectacular junior season. The Chargers were ranked atop the 3A polls throughout the year and faced stiff competition week end and week out. The bigger that moment, the bigger the play was for Jones and his fellow Charger teammates.
The versatile playmaker tallied up 41 tackles, 5 INT’s on defense and on offense Jones added over 300 yards rushing/receiving while adding another 5 TD’s. In addition, another 2 TD’s on special teams. Jones has a knack for the ball, being either making plays while it is in the air or finding it while making a tackle. Jones is physical, plays hard/fast and is explosive. Jones credits his success to his teammates and his coaches and also praised the hard work and focus they had as a team. Although the season ended short of a repeat championship Jones and the chargers will be poised for another good season, deep playoff run and a possible trip to the dome. The standout junior playmaker has a bright future and has the hands down ability to play on Saturday’s in the fall in the near future.
Although Jones and the Chargers came up short in the team’s push to repeat as state champions they will be back next year aiming for another shot to a trip to the Dome. On the hand Forman and Southern Lab are one step closer to another title and they are among four other area schools looking to finish the deal and bring home a state title for football.
