1. Ashton DuBose Ashton DuBose 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB William J. Brennan | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Brennan High School (San Antonio, TX)
2021 Season: 3,395 passing yards, 51 passing touchdowns, 1 interception, 901 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns
DuBose has played nothing but excellent all season and that especially continues into the playoffs. In the past three games, DuBose has thrown for 16 touchdowns and rushed for four. Although, Brennan does square off against Lake Travis at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Cavaliers have one of the toughest defenses and a high octane offense of their own. However, DuBose has faced several teams of the same fashion and has won with little to no issues.
2. Jason Love (SO-RB) – Brennan High School (San Antonio, TX)
2021 Season: 859 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns
Love is the main workhorse for the rushing attack besides DuBose. As a sophomore, Love has already kick-started his football career by being consistent. He is a tough and fast runner and is a great go-to in the redzone.
3. Aaron DuBose (JR-WR) – Brennan High School (San Antonio, TX)
2021 Season: 41 receptions, 799 receiving yards, 15 receiving touchdowns
Aaron DuBose is often the favorite target of his brother. The two have caused chaos for opposing defenses in the past. The brother dynamic works perfectly and truly open up the communication between the two. However, Aaron DuBose is just one of many assets to the Brennan offense that poses a huge issue for most teams. Overall, the DuBose brothers and their teammates are the reason Brennan is undefeated.
4. Bo Edmundson Bo Edmundson 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Lake Travis | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 2,638 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns, 9 interceptions
Lake Travis faces one of its toughest opponents this season which calls on the Cavaliers to lean on their stars. First up is Edmundson, who has been electric all year. He is arguably one of the best quarterbacks in Central Texas. He makes few mistakes and has a precise and powerful arm. Edmundson is a force to be reckoned with even against such a powerful defense like Brennan.
5. Derrick Johnson Derrick Johnson 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Lake Travis | 2022 State TX (SR-RB) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 1,316 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns
Right alongside Edmunson is Johnson. He has been thunderous all year and is amongst the best in running backs in the region. Coming out of the backfield, Johnson is both strong and fast, and can make opposing secondaries pay if he gets into the open field. For Lake Travis to defeat Brennan, the team will have to incorporate Johnson as much as possible to open up more of the passing game.
6. Caleb Burton Caleb Burton 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Del Valle | 2022 State TX (SR-WR) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 41 receptions, 712 receiving yards, 14 receiving touchdowns
Burton is one of the main threats on the receiving end of the ball. He is incredibly talented with great hands and with enough physicality to fight for the ball when necessary. Brennan will need to watch out for both him and the other receivers as any of them can do damage.
7. Brayden Buchanan (JR-QB) – Vandegrift High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 2,897 passing yards, 42 passing touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 7 rushing touchdowns
Vandegrift faces arguably its toughest opponent yet in the undefeated Westlake at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Much like Lake Travis will need to lean on its stars, so will the Vipers. Buchanan is the main driving force on the offense and makes few mistakes. He also has a lot of targets and assets but he will just need to remain consistent as he has been and make no mistakes against Westlake. Vandegrift is amongst few teams that can take down the Chaparrals and Buchanan is one of the reasons why.
8. Reece Beauchamp (SR-WR) – Vandegrift High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 54 receptions, 1,040 receiving yards, 17 receiving touchdowns
The other reason is seemingly the best wide receiver in Central Texas. Beauchamp has put up numbers miles above others in the same position. He is fast, fully aware of the field, and has excellent hands. He is perfect on deep passes or in the redzone. Beauchamp has been mentioned a lot all season and there are many reasons as to why. The duo of Buchanan and Beauchamp will once again be two players to watch for.
9. Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX (SR-QB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 2,486 passing yards, 34 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 362 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns
The Clemson commit is once again one to watch this week. Klubnik has torn up the field all year but he will face a tough team against Vandegrift. The Vipers are also a high octane offense, but Klubnik is no stranger to facing teams of this magnitude. All Klubnik has to do is remain consistent and continue to not make mistakes.
10. Jaden Greathouse Jaden Greathouse 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Austin Westlake | 2023 State TX (JR-WR) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 49 receptions, 871 receiving yards, 15 receiving touchdowns
This goes the same for Greathouse, who is also in the running for best receiver in Central Texas. Greathouse, too, has to remain consistent but with how athletic he is and his excellent receiving skills, this should not be a problem. Given how talented these two teams are, this should be a great matchup.
