Plenty of household names from Iowa and Nebraska came out to show what they’ve got. Take a look at some of the top performers on the offensive side of the ball representing Iowa who excelled in each component of the afternoon: combine testing, individual drills, and one on one’s.
Braylon Kammrad Braylon Kammrad 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Lewis Central | 2023 State IA , QB, C/O 2023, Lewis Central, 6’1 180
It is very obvious on film how well-developed Kammrad’s throwing mechanics are; they looked that much more crisp in person. Kammrad looked very comfortable and confident during individual drills, especially routes on air. He was nailing each route and looked outstanding doing it. It is impressive to see up close just how much strength and torque he gets on his passes.
Zayvier Arguello Zayvier Arguello 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Newton | 2022 State IA , QB, C/O 2022, Newton, 6’2 207
Arguello is regarded as one of the top dual-threats in Iowa and everything he put together on Sunday confirms that he can do it at the next level and a high level at that. Testing proved just how agile and explosive of a player he is. Arguello was without a doubt one of the most dynamic athletes in the building. He can sling it, too; wherever he commits is getting a steal.
Jack Wallace Jack Wallace 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Iowa City West | 2025 State IA , QB, C/O 2025, Iowa City West, 6’3 205
Wallace, the only Freshman to start at Quarterback in 5A this fall, fit in nicely with the top-tier of quarterbacks on Sunday. He has a big frame that he already looks to have caught up with really well. He has a quick, snap of a release that looked really consistent on underneath and vertical routes. Wallace knows how to use his size and weight to maximize his throwing efficiency.
Carson Maeder Carson Maeder 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Davis County | 2022 IA , QB, C/O 2022, Davis County, 6’4 195
The coaches and scouts were high on Maeder all afternoon and rightfully so. The 6’4 prospect put together a very successful Senior season totalling 25 touchdowns; it was pretty easy to see how he was able to hang so many points on the board this year getting to see him up close. It is obvious that he sees the field well, gets the ball out on time, and has plenty of mobility.
Darnell Butler Darnell Butler 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB North Scott | 2022 IA , RB, C/O 2022, North Scott, 5’7 155
Butler is so quick and nimble; the way he was able to cut explosively and accelerate through changes of direction on Sunday during testing and individual drills was impressive. He showed those skills in a live drill against the Linebackers. It was so hard for his opponents to track him without overpursuing because his moves couldn’t be identified before they were already made.
Dayton Harrell Dayton Harrell 5'9" | 165 lbs | DB Sioux City North | 2024 State IA , RB, C/O 2024, Sioux City North, 5’10 165
Harrell has electric speed and the way that will develop and be molded over time is exciting to think about. He will be plenty big enough by the time he is headed to college and will certainly be regarded as one of the top skill players in Iowa by then. There was so much twitch evident in his movement and it is easy to see how he dominates the rushing, receiving, and return game.
Jonathon Presswood Jonathon Presswood 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Fort Dodge | 2022 IA , RB, C/O 2022, Fort Dodge, 5’10 207
Presswood’s film makes it very clear that he can get a head of steam in an instant and run through and over defenders. What really stood out on Sunday was how much more he has in the arsenal; he is very quick, agile, and in control of his body. This was all evident during testing and individual drills. Presswood proved that he can plug into a variety of running schemes.
Sal Capaldo Sal Capaldo 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR North Polk | 2022 IA , WR, C/O 2022, North Polk, 6’0 160
Capaldo was on fire with his route running Sunday afternoon; every coach and scout pointed out how impressed they were with him at some point throughout the afternoon. His footwork was tops in the Wide Receivers group; this was made very clear by the way he could get in and out of breaks and shake coverage during one on one’s. Capaldo has the makings of a premier Slot.
Dillon Ranck Dillon Ranck 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Norwalk Highschool | 2023 State IA , WR, C/O 2023, Norwalk, 6’3 190
Ranck is a big target and what stood out most about his abilities on Sunday was how well he moved within his frame, especially for his age. The coordination and body control paired with long strides are a deadly combination. It’s no wonder he’s such a dominant vertical and jump ball threat on Friday nights. Ranck tested well and was a top pass catcher during one on one’s.
Keaton Roskop Keaton Roskop 6'3" | 215 lbs | TE Linn-Mar | 2024 State IA , TE, C/O 2024, Linn-Mar, 6’3 196
Roskop always looked physically impressive on film; all assertions were proved correct on Sunday. He is a filled out 2024 who moves exceptionally well for his size at his age. That physical maturity has helped him stand out already and after seeing him in person there is no doubt that he will be a very sought after recruit. Roskop will be a monster the next couple years.
Ryan McDonough Ryan McDonough 6'2" | 295 lbs | OL Wapello | 2023 IA , OL, C/O 2023, Wapello, 6’3 290
McDonough was one of just a few Offensive Linemen on Sunday who is a big, physical athlete that proved during drills and one on one’s that he really understands the position, has solid mechanics, well-developed footwork, and can generate some power and force out of his stance. He did so well keeping opponents covered up and then overpowering them at the point of attack.
Max DeBoer Max DeBoer 6'2" | 260 lbs | OL Central Lyon/George-Little Rock | 2023 IA , OL, C/O 2023, CL-GLR, 6’2 260
DeBoer sure looked the part as an interior Offensive Lineman on Sunday. His lateral movement was noteworthy, especially the way he stayed balanced through changes of direction to not allow opponents to have anything to take advantage of. He had a really nice short set and is another big man who looked smooth, comfortable, and confident in drills. Keep an eye on him.
