In the 7th grade elimination game between the GMSAA and GFL teams, the GFL 7th grade team took an early lead 6-0 on a 3-yard TD rush from #3 Christopher Frazier. A lead that remained throughout the 1st quarter. However, the GMSAA defense would prove to rise to the occasion. Throughout the 1st quarter and deep into the 2nd the GMSAA defense continually wreaked havoc on the GFL offense.
GMSAA QB #2 JR Harris found his stride late in the 2nd quarter connecting on a number of passes, including a 52-yard TD pass to #75 Jordan Carrasquillo. Following a Harris QB sneak for the 2-point conversion the GMSAA team took the lead 8-6 and never looked back.
Following the TD by GMSAA’s Harris, the GFL team drove the ball 71-yards into GMSAA territory. But the GMSAA defense still would not break as #11 Caleb Hudson intercepted GFL’s QB #10 Christian Webb-Scott and took it over 90-yards for the Pick 6 score. After a failed-point conversion on an incomplete pass, GMSAA led 14-6.
Yet, the GFL team would not just lay down. Following the Pick 6, GFL’s #23 Jameer Cantrell ran back-to-back rushes of over 25 yards each to set the GFL team up to score. GFL QB #10 Christian Webb-Scott then hit #23 Jameer Cantrell on a 6-yard screen pass for the TD. After a failed-point conversion on Cantrell’s run, the score was 14-12.
On the following drive, the GMSAA team slowly moved the ball and chewed the clock. As it seemed that the GFL team had them stopped on a 4th and 10 from GFL’s own 37-yard line, a subsequent unsportsmanlike penalty gave the GMSAA team a fresh set of downs and continued the drive. GMSAA QB #2 JR Harris hit #11 Caleb Hudson for the 25-yard TD score. GMSAA failed on the conversion but now led 20-12, as the clock continued to run down.
With the GMSAA defense proving too stout the GFL team could not move the ball on its next possession. This allowed GMSAA to just take a knee to win the elimination game 20-12 over GFL.

South Georgia vs Northwest Florida 7th grade
Almost through the first half of the elimination game between NW Florida 7th grade and South Georgia 7th grade, it seemed as if the South Georgia team was simply just going to run over NW Florida.
However, there was a different script about to unfold in this story. This script was Brooks Washington, the quarterback for the NW Florida 7th grade team.
With South Georgia leading 12-0 deep into the 2nd quarter, NW Florida QB #18 Brooks Washington took off and completely unloaded on the South Georgia team. After a couple of positive yardage runs by #4 Cameron Boudreaux, Brooks Washington hit #42 Bryce Hatton for a 27-yard TD pass. Following the 2-point conversion pass to #2 Vaughn Howard, NW Florida trailed 12-8 at halftime.
After halftime, QB Brooks Washington continued his hot streak connecting on seven consecutive passes including another TD pass to #2 Vaughn Howard for 49-yards to take the lead 14-12. Yet, South Georgia was not done. After several plays for positive yardage, South Georgia’s QB #8 Kayden Harley hit #6, Jaylen Huff, on a 17-yard TD pass. South Georgia’s PAT was no good, but they regained the lead 20-14.
However, NW Florida’s QB #18 Brooks Washington was not finished either. Following three plays back-to-back where Washington had to work outside the pocket to keep the drive alive, Washington hooked up with #20 Trevor Walker for another TD pass, this time for 29-yards. Following the 2-point conversion pass to #4 Cameron Boudreaux, South Florida regained the lead 22-20.
On the following kick-off after NW Florida’s score, NW Florida’s #54 Justin Steiner leveled the South Georgia kickoff returner with an NFL-type big hit, which caused a fumble that NW Florida’s #81 Kayden Bachelor scooped up and kept the possession with the Florida team. Next, Brooks Washington immediately hit #32, Geno Cunningham, for the 41-yard TD strike. Following an unsuccessful 2-point conversion, NW Florida led 28-18.
As play ran down in the 4th quarter, NW Florida’s #54 Justin Steiner drilled South Georgia’s RB #23 Amere White causing another fumble that was recovered by NW Florida. In the following play, NW Florida’s #4 Cameron Boudreaux hit the edge and ran for the 49-yard TD score. Following the Vaughn Howard 2-point conversion run, NW Florida sealed the win with a 28-18 victory.
