These newcomers have managed to get their name out there even more than they have before, while also competing with some of the other prospects in the state with the opportunity to make oue list, and be placed in the specific spots in which they have. These newcomers have managed to show out in their junior year, and have taken every opportunity that they can to make big plays that separate them from their competition. Whether this was in game time situations, or big time plays that players typically struggle to make, these players have managed to put themselves in the position to gain more recognition than they had received before. As you take time to look at our favorite newcomers on this list, we also suggest taking some time to take a peek at the others that we also added to our rankings, because we certainly do not think that you will regret it.
Zechariah Owens Zechariah Owens 6'7" | 345 lbs | OL Eagle;s Landing Christian Academy | 2023 State GA (OL)- Eagle’s Landing
Owens is a huge prospect, and the way he moves for his size is very rare. At this point of time, we have him ranked 32nd overall on our new list, and there are plenty of reasons for this. While he flew under our radar last time, the way he has been able to have a successful season that caught our eye in 2021 is very impressive. This year, he shows that he is efficient when run blocking, but also has success in pass protection. This is due to his footwork, and length. While he seemingly catches players at times, he can also be seen to be dominant at the point of contact, as he helps navigate his blocks when rolling his hips and using his hands. Owens also finishes blocks well, which is very important to see, and the way that he allows for his size to take up space can be seen to be a big factor in his big plays.
Troy Ford Troy Ford 6'1" | 235 lbs | DL Calvary Day | 2023 State GA (DL)- Calvary Day
Ford already measures in at 6’2, 215 pounds, and can be seen to be an extremely dominant force on the defensive side of the ball. This, paired with the constant success he has had this year, has made it a no brainer for us to want to add him to our rankins, and place him at 34th overall. When playing DL, he is very quick off of the ball, and he uses his hands, and arms very well to gain separation from opposing linemen, and to be able to help himself get to the ball carrier, or passer much easier. His explosive playing style allows for him to catch linemen off balance, and to easily take advantage of them with polished pass rush moves, and his ability to dip and rip. Ford also takes good angles when making tackles, and his speed allows for him to get to the backfield, or sideline to sideline, very easily. Moving forward, if he can continue to play as physically as he already does, he can see himself become one of the best DL in his class.
Jack Luttrell Jack Luttrell 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Hebron Christian Academy | 2023 State GA (DB)- Hebron Christian
Luttrell has not only made our list for the first time, but he clocks in at 42nd overall. This should not be a surprise, especially due to his high level of success at a young age. When playing the DB position, not only does he play with good body control, but his burst, and speed allow for him to be able to keep up with opposing receivers. In doing do, he is also able to get in, and out of his breaks cleanly due to his footwork. Luttrell also takes good angles when making tackles, which helps from a production standpoint, and when paired with his ability to roll his hips, and shoot his hands, he is very efficient at bringing opposing players to the ground. Luttrell moves very fluidly, and we love the way he covers, and is able to stay in the hip pocket. If he can continue to do this as the years go by, he will see even more attention, and offers come his way.
Ethan Davis Ethan Davis 6'5" | 200 lbs | TE Collins Hill | 2023 State GA (TE)- Collins Hill
Davis is one of our favorite newcomers within this new update. Not only is he a very consistent player, but he allows for his 6’5, 221 pound frame to dominate his competition. Regularly, he uses his length to help him box out defenders to high point the football, and he also uses this same ability to help him catch the ball from various angles. This includes over the shoulder, which he seems to excel at, as well as on short, and intermediate routes in which he has to attack the football. Davis also runs routes well, and he allows for his burst to help him gain separation after the catch. All of this being valid reasons for his current placement at 36th overall on our new list.
