Continue ReadingEven though the 2022 class is inching closer and closer to their graduation dates, it was not too late for them to put their senior seasons on full display in competition against their fellow classmates in the state of Georgia. While this class is littered with a high level of talent, it is very impressive to see the prospects who managed to outduel some of the better players in the state, as well as the country as a whole. As a result of this, they found themselves with a higher ranking than they were before, with opportunities to continue to grow. Whether this was due to the gaudy statistics that they may have put up this past season, or due to the fact that they developed as players, and continued to add on to their game, we feel that these players have rightfully earned their place on this list, and deserve more than the attention that they are due.
Quavian Carter Quavian Carter 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Lee County | 2022 State GA (DB)– Lee County
Carter has seen a big jump in productivity, and efficiency in his playing style this year, and as expected, his new ranking reflects such things. In this update, his ranking has jumped from 126th, to 40th overall. Some of the reasons for such a big jump include the fact that he is a very smooth player at the DB position. By this, we refer to his ability to move cleanly, while also being able to get in and out of his breaks while tracking receivers. Carter also does not get bullied on routes, as he has proven to be able to stick to the hip pocket of offensive players, while also being able to play aggressively. His speed is also an asset to his game, as he does a good job of making plays on the ball when needed, and showing that he has ball skills. Even more impressively, Carter also plays physical football when he has to make tackles, which most DB’s his age tend to shy away from. Because of this, and the need for his position, we are excited to see his jump on the list, and only expect him to continue to grow and develop even more in the future.
Josh Josephs Josh Josephs 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB North Cobb | 2022 State GA (LB)- North Cobb
As a LB, what Josephs is able to accomplish is very impressive. He navigates the field almost as well as opposing offensive players, and his vertical and lateral movement are already very advanced for his age. Paired with this, his speed, and burst, allows for him to get to the football effectively, and he takes very good angles, helping him to get to ball carriers in good time. Josephs also plays with good bend, and is able to transition his power on contact very efficiently. He is strong on the point of contact, and he rolls his hips very well, even when making tackles in pursuit. In addition to these things, he does a good job of playing instinctively in coverage, and he also wields a great ability to dip and rip, helping him to get to the passer. This rankings update, he has seen a big jump, and his stock has risen from 71st overall, to 30th.
Isaiah Bond Isaiah Bond 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Buford | 2022 State GA (WR/DB)- Buford
Bond has continued to shine for Buford, and it is no coincidence that his team has seen success as he has also grown, and developed as a football player. There are plenty of traits to Bond’s game that are impressive, including his overall speed, and the way he is able to change gears, and use his burst to his advantage. He shows the ability to catch and go, and when the ball is in his hands, he does a good job of using his twitch to shake defenders, and take it the distance. Bond finishes plays very well, and uses his feet to run clean routes, and stack defenders. Paired with this, his smooth running, and playing style have allowed him to get out of his breaks cleanly when running routes, and to play as a well balanced WR. In our latest rankings, he has jumped from 26th overall, to 7th, proving that he is one of the best skilled players in the state.
Oscar Delp Oscar Delp 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Forsyth | 2022 State GA (TE)- West Forsyth
Over the years, Delp has seemed to grow into his long frame pretty well. He has filled out a bit more, and this has been key for him as he plays the new brand of TE. He not only blocks well, but he does a good job of boxing out defenders, and going up to get the ball. His strong hands, and body control are impressive for his size, which is certainly why we think he will excel in the next level. This season, he has continued to improve all around in his game, and he now plays with more consistent feet, and a strong base. This same base allows him to make better blocks, and to be more effective in the running game. Because of this, Delp has now seen his stock rise from 126th, to 40th overall.
