1. Ethan Burke Ethan Burke 6'7" | 225 lbs | DL Westlake | 2022 State TX – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 58 total tackles, 40 solo tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, 19 hurries, 3 forced fumbles, 1 interception, 1 blocked punt
To say that Burke was a dominant force for the Westlake defense is an understatement. He was all over the field all season. Not only that, but he also provided excellent plays on special teams as well. He is a constant disruption for opposing quarterbacks and is seemingly always in the backfield. Burke signed with the Texas Longhorns on Dec. 15, and will be a huge asset to the team. He received 9 offers, including Kansas State and Michigan. He is currently at three stars but should be acknowledged much higher, but he will likely prove that in college play.
2. Anthony Holmes Anthony Holmes 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL Westfield | 2022 State TX – Westfield High School (Houston, TX)
2021 Season: 94 total tackles, 48 tackles for a loss, 21 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception for a touchdown
Holmes deserves more than three stars for his performance this season. He is disruptive, aggressive, and concise. He can strip the ball out of just about anybody and is constantly aware of where said ball is. His awareness and play recognition is off the charts. Plus, he has got a lot of speed and agility and hits like a freight train.
3. Trey Fite Trey Fite 6'5" | 215 lbs | DL Tatum | 2022 State TX – Tatum High School (Tatum, TX)
2021 Season: 63 total tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, 3 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries
Talk about a heavy hitter, Fite is tenacious when on the field and had no problem blowing through an offensive line to make a play. Fite has all the qualities of an elite defensive lineman, and is another player that deserves more than three stars. He is a constant disruption for opposing teams and is always in the backfield. He is certainly a player teams do not want to face if they are pressed against their own endzone. He recently signed with SMU on Dec. 15, and the Mustangs have just gotten a huge weapon in their arsenal.
4. Harvey Dyson Harvey Dyson 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL Cedar Hill | 2022 State TX – Cedar Hill High School (Cedar Hill, TX)
2021 Season: 32 total tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 1 pass breakup
Dyson signed with Texas Tech on Dec. 15, and what the Red Raiders are getting is a player with such agility that he can jump off the snap in a blink. He is another disruptive lineman who can read opposing plays like a book. His awareness and focus during the chaos on the field is superb. Despite excellent blocking, he still manages to break free to make the play.
