Colin Johnson | 6’4 180lbs | 2023 | Pearland Dawson
Leading his team to a playoff birth off his arm talent was Colin Johnson. The Dawson gunslinger has great anticipation where he displays his accuracy. He works very well on the sideline as his passes are in perfect position for the receiver to haul it in. Johnson works the intermediate level of the field like a seasoned veteran. He does a great job of not staring down his target and moves the safeties and defense with his eyes. When he does this it opens up the field more and therefore, he doesn’t put the ball in harm’s way. Johnson moves around in the pocket to keep himself clean and he likes to keep his eyes down the football field to look for more yards. Duke Bulter | 6’1 170lbs | 2023 | Shadow Creek
All throughout the season, you saw Butler have a great command of his intermediate ball. Butler was very accurate while striking before his receivers come out their breaks. The junior moves around well and delivers an accurate ball on the move. While on the move, he has shown to have his feet and shoulder ready to fire at all times. Butler’s tape has some nice high arcing deep passes on there as well. On those balls, you see the placement is out in front of the receiver and not in contention for the defense to make a play on. He finished out with 1,891 passing yards, 29 TD, and six interceptions in 2021, sharing the 23-6A passing touchdown title.

One of the most exciting dual threats in the area is Alief Taylor’s, Chase Jenkins Chase Jenkins 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Alief Taylor | 2023 State TX . This electric quarterback is a consistent threat in both phases of the game. Defenses must account for him not only in the air but also on the ground. He posted three games over 100 rushing yards and finished with 695 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. This young man is shifty, has great body control, and finds the endzone. His tape tells the story of his improvisational skills. Passing-wise, he’s smart with the ball only turning it over once through the air. He works all three levels of the field and likes to try to find his receivers on the scramble drill. For a dual-threat style quarterback, he’s a developed passer with a stronger arm than most anticipate. Jenkins finished out his season with 1,800 passing yards and 17 TD and currently holds an offer from Deion Sanders’ Jackson State.
