Here are some of the underrated players to watch in their Friday 12/3 matchup:
Nico Mosley- RB, 2023
Mosley is a shifty, explosive playmaker out of the backfield for Mater Dei Catholic. He shows burst through the hole and runs with speed, balance, and vision. He has the ability to stretch the defense outside the tackles and is a difficult player to tackle in space. He’s a versatile athlete with ability to operate out of the slot and is effective catching screens out of the backfield. Mosley is one of the more underrated RBs in San Diego and a key piece to his team’s state title run this season.

Samuel Brown- OL, 2024
Brown provides a physical edge on the OL unit for MDC. He has great size for his OG position (6’3, 315 lbs.) and is violent at the POA. He’s a physical run blocker who shows good movement as a pulling guard and engages and sustains blocks with strong leg drive keeping his hands inside. He explodes off the ball and moves his feet well in pass pro. Brown will likely see an uptick in his recruiting activity after his strong sophomore season.

Joey Hiner- OL/DL, 2022
Hiner is a physical presence on both sides of the ball at C and DT. He shows power and strength driving through blocks and bull-rushing interior lineman. He’s quick to snap and engage with DTs and shows ability to work up to the second level and pick up blocks on LBs. He uses his hands as a DT to fight off blocks and fill gaps aggressively playing with high motor. Hiner’s been a valuable piece to MDC’s ability to control the trenches throughout this season.

Isaiah Buxton- DB, 2024
Buxton has produced a breakout sophomore season proving to be a valuable shutdown corner for the MDC defense. He’s a smooth, rangy athlete with long arms and speed to cover deep. He shows natural instincts from his CB spot flashing great timing and ball skills to break up passes and reacting up quickly to underneath throws, breaking down and making fundamental tackles. Buxton just picked up his first D-I offer in November from Arizona which could be the first of several coming his way this offseason.
After a great conversation with @CoachPaopao I’m blessed to say I received my 1st division 1 scholarship to the University of Arizona.

Cruz Estrada- WR, 2023
Estrada has been one of the leading receivers on a team loaded with talent at the position. He’s a tough, physical receiver with good size and strength. He can create separation at the LOS with crafty routes and is effective turning shallow routes and screens into chunk plays. He shows strong hands and the ability to go across the middle and catch in traffic. Estrada’s physicality and playmaking ability give him unique upside as an underrated WR prospect.
