The offense was electric but the defense made sure to keep away any chance of a comeback, especially early on. The momentum was clearly in the direction of Lake Travis, and these are the players that made that happen.
1. Bo Edmundson Bo Edmundson 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Lake Travis | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 279 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns
Edmundson was an unstoppable force all game and made very few mistakes. He and senior wide receiver Caleb Burton Caleb Burton 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Del Valle | 2022 State TX had a great connection all game, which is what led to such a massive victory for the Cavaliers. This dynamic duo can take the team to possibly a state title.
2. Caleb Burton Caleb Burton 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Del Valle | 2022 State TX (SR-WR) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 4 receptions, 112 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns
On the receiving end, Burton was as close to perfect as one can be. Almost all of his receptions were touchdowns, and he picked up massive amounts of yards. He averaged 28 yards per reception. The East Central defense just had no way of stopping the duo of Edmundson and Burton.
3. Max Linhoff (SR-DL) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 8 total tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks
On the defense side of the ball, Linhoff was a terror for the East Central offense. Most defensive linemen get one sack in a game, maybe two, but Linhoff walked away with three. If this trend for Linhoff continues, he could be one of the many keys for Lake Travis to get a state title this season.
4. Chernet Estes Chernet Estes 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Lake Travis | 2022 State TX (SR-WR) – Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
Stats: 6 receptions, 91 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Although not putting up the same numbers as Burton, Estes also had a big game against East Central. Putting up 15.2 yards per reception, Estes was a workhorse and actually had more receptions than Burton. He also had one of the longest receptions in the game with 43 yards. Overall, it seems Edmundson has quite the arsenal of targets at his disposal.
