Top Offensive Line Performances from the State Championships
In this article:
Can’t ever forget about the big boys up front. There were some big, powerful, and even agile young men playing at Ford Field this past weekend and I’m not talking about Penei Sewell. I’m talking about 4 high school football stars who led their teams to victory. Here are the 4 standout linemen from the State Championships.
Chelsea C Russell Sullivan
Sullivan was a dominant force against one of the best front 7’s I watched all season. His sheer power was daunting and this produced many pancakes for the 6’1 330lb state champion.
GR Catholic Central C William Smith III
Another big and powerful center standing at 6’4 255, Smith made opposing linemen look silly. He was going up against smaller defenders all night and just played bully ball, getting pancake after pancake and protecting his quarterback incredibly well. Not a bad high school career for Smith as he’s got 3 State Championship rings.
Detroit King T Johnathan Slack Johnathan Slack 6'3" | 260 lbs | OL Detroit King | 2023 State MI
Slack is a versatile monster standing at 6’3 270lbs. He’s as powerful as they come plus incredibly agile, and he played an excellent game against one of the best defenses in the state. The division 1 prospect can be trusted to defend just about anybody in the state, and it’s going to be extremely exciting and daunting to watch him play his senior season.
De La Salle G Kadin Featherstone Kadin Featherstone 6'2" | 265 lbs | OL De La Salle | 2022 State MI
The 6’2 260lb guard impressed against a front 7 that includes a Notre Dame commit. He’s coached extremely well at De La Salle, thus Featherstone played up to his potential this season. Here’s a guy that plays until the whistle, loves to hit, block, pancake, etc. He had many great blocks on Burnham and I can’t wait to see where life takes him next.
