#TNHSFB Playoffs: Round Two Game Changers
In this article:
Round Two of the Tennessee High School playoffs presents a big time schedule of games with a lot of talented prospects going head to head.
Here we breakdown the guys that we feel will be playmakers, game changers in Friday’s nights games and be the difference in their team’s coming out with victories.
1. ‘23 (QB) Chris Parson Chris Parson 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Ravenwood | 2023 State TN – Ravenwood
– Round One was tough for the Raptors but Round Two presents a harder roadblock as Ravenwood travels on the road to face an undefeated Collierville team that is stout defensively but they haven’t seen anything like Parson yet! The Raptors stud quarterback is elite in the pocket with his mobility and he has a strong arm, so he presents a big challenge for the Dragons defense when it comes to slowing him down. If Parson is able to do whatever he wants, it will be a long night for Collierville but if they can keep him in check, the Dragons could win this game but I’m banking on the Florida St. commit to bust loose!
2. (RB) Jamarious Brooks Jamarious Brooks 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Memp. Central | 2022 State TN – Memp. Central
– Brooks is coming off one of the best individual rushing season’s of all time and he continued his work in Round One but this week presents a tougher challenge in Springfield. The Warriors star back must be his explosive, big play self in this game if Memp. Central plans to head home with a victory or the home Yellow Jackets will move on. Brooks has been a one man wrecking crew this year and he will be the best back Springfield’s defense has seen all season. Look for Brooks to be leaned upon heavily in this game and be the difference in the Warriors road upset victory.
Congratulations to @MemCentralHS RB @JamariousB10, this week’s @AutoZone Liberty Bowl Touchdown Club Prep Player of the Week. pic.twitter.com/bWCtIvKTS5

3. ‘23 (QB)
Marcel Reed
Marcel
Reed
6'2" | 185 lbs | QB
MBA | 2023
State
TN
– MBA
– The Big Red junior quarterback and Mr. Football Semi-Finalist will have everybody’s eyes glued towards him on Friday night, especially the Baylor defense where they must keep Reed in check if they want to win this game. Having a bye week to rest up, Reed and his Big Red offense should be rested and ready to go against a solid Red Raiders defense. They will have a hard challenge keeping Reed under tabs as he is a dynamic runner that is excellent at throwing outside the pocket and can find the end zone in a variety of ways at any given time and if he goes off, the Big Red are marching on.
4. (QB) Jacob Dooley Jacob Dooley 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Waverly Central | 2022 State TN – Waverly
– Dooley is one of the more unheralded senior talents in this state and a quarterback with the moxy and arm talent to push his team towards great success. The next step for Dooley and his Tigers team is hitting the road to defeat the #1 seed East Nashville on their home field and I think he gets the job done. The Tigers senior quarterback is a dual threat that can win with his arm and his legs, so the Eagles defense has to be aware of him at all times and keep him in check if they want to win the game. Dooley is an ultimate leader that will take advantage of the big stage Friday night and succeed, leading his team into the Quarterfinals.
5. ‘23 (WR) Kaleb Carver Kaleb Carver 5'9" | 165 lbs | WR Green Hill | 2023 State TN – Green Hill
– The Hawks had a nail biter in Round One vs. Franklin Co. and to be honest, if it wasn’t for the individual play of Carver, Green Hill’s season might be done but the electric playmaker was the difference and then some! He scored in every way possible and the Hawks will need almost the same performance against a hot Columbia team in Round Two. Carver is the kind of the talent that can take over a game quickly and put his team ahead. The Lions present a good challenge as they have some athletes to compete with the Hawks but Carver should be the difference in this game and push Green Hill into the quarterfinals.

6. ‘23 (QB)
Kenny Minchey
Kenny
Minchey
6'2" | 200 lbs | QB
Pope Prep | 2023
State
TN
– Pope Prep
– One of the more entertaining games of Round Two pits Minchey and his Pope Prep team against Brentwood Academy in what should be a hard fought game till the very end. The home Eagles play good defense and will certainly key on Minchey but the junior gunslinger is one of the best pure passers in this state and if he is on, it might be a long night for BA. Minchey has a great feel for the pocket and can make every throw, so slowing him down and making sure he doesn’t go off, is the main key for the Eagles team and defense. If Pope Prep makes it to the Semifinals, Minchey will be a big reason why.
7. ‘23 (RB) Caleb Hampton Caleb Hampton 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Baylor | 2023 State TN – Baylor
– Hampton is coming off a monster performance in Round One in the Red Raiders road upset victory over Ensworth but he must do it again as his team faces another tough opponent this week in MBA. The Baylor two sport star has been a bell cow back for the Red Raiders offense this season, especially down the stretch where Hampton seems to be picking up steam and playing his best football. MBA is a well coached, technique sound team, so they won’t be themselves. Baylor must go take the victory and Hampton should be a major factor why. If the South Carolina baseball commit and junior running back takes care of the ball and breaks loose for big gains, the Red Raiders could see their playoff run continue into the Semi’s.
Like one of his biggest inspirations Jackie Robinson, Baylor junior Caleb Hampton Caleb Hampton 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Baylor | 2023 State TN also wants to star in multiple sports in college. The South Carolina baseball commitment carried the ball 44 times for 252 yards and all 3 Red Raider TDs in 1st RD playoff W. https://t.co/Q3Tn1M6hZb pic.twitter.com/KVyDoqSqBE

8. (WR)
Trace Corum
Trace
Corum
6'1" | 180 lbs | WR
Farragut | 2022
State
TN
– Farragut
– It has been a breakout, monster season thus far for Corum and he will be needed on Friday evening to produce as the Admirals hit the road to face a talented and stout Bradley Central team. This Knoxville area wideout has been the big man on campus this year for the Admirals, putting up huge numbers and being dependable on a week to week basis. That consistency will be needed on Friday night as the Bears defense will certainly key on Corum and try to shut him down but if he breaks out for a big game, the Admirals could be walking away with the win.
9. (QB) Bradford Gaines – DCA
– The Wildcats have a tough opening round playoff game vs. Friendship Christian, so their top players, especially Gaines must step forward and lead the way. The DCA senior quarterback has led his team to this point before, last season where the Cats were one win away from competing for a state title and that loss is most definitely on Gaines’ mind. He must not take the road Commanders lightly as they are talented enough to pull the upset but if Gaines and his receivers are on point, the Wildcats should come away as the victor and march into the Semifinals.
Blessed to be named Semi-Finalist for Mr. Football @DCA_fb

10. (Ath)
Keenan Burnley
Keenan
Burnley
6'0" | 170 lbs | DB
Trousdale Co. | 2022
State
TN
– Trousdale Co.
– Burnley has been an all everything playmaker for his Yellow Jackets squad this year and his team needs another big performance from the two way talent in their big 2nd round road game against Meigs County. This should be a hard nosed, close contest that is fought and won in the trenches but a playmaker must step out and make those certain plays that sets the game apart and that’s where Burnley comes in. He is a guy that can make plays on either side of the ball and will most certainly be leaned upon Friday night in hopes for Trousdale Co. walking away with a road win.
