Congratulations to all of the teams that have earned a trip to play in Little Rock next week. All three matchups have the potential to be classic hard-hitting games. Let’s take a look at all three matchups.
Looking first at the 5-A State championship game. Pulaski Academy and White Hall will meet up in the title game. The Bruins of Pulaski Academy being in the championship game does not come as a surprise. The offense is for Pulaski Academy is explosive with Joe Himon Joe Himon 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Pulaski Academy | 2022 State AR and Charlie Fiser Charlie Fiser 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Pulaski Academy | 2022 State AR providing plenty of punch for Pulaski Academy. As for the White Hall Bulldogs, running back Zaire Green Zaire Green 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB White Hall | 2022 State AR is explosive and a nightmare to bring down in the open field and quarterback Matthew Martinez can make all the throws needed to run the Bulldogs. Martinez can also use his legs to his advantage and pick up plenty of yards on the ground.
Meanwhile, the 6-A State championship game is going to be one of the most eagerly awaited football games in the state next week. Both the Greenwood Bulldogs and the El Dorado Wildcats have plenty of talented players all over the field. The Greenwood Bulldogs are going to lean quarterback Hunter Houston Hunter Houston 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Greenwood | 2023 State AR who threw for 368 yards and four touchdowns last week. Luke Brewer Luke Brewer 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2022 State AR and Aiden Kennon Aiden Kennon 6'1" | 205 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2023 State AR give the Bulldogs two wide receivers that have the potential to cause headaches for the Wildcats.
Turning our attention to the El Dorado Wildcats. Quarterback Sharmon Rester Sharmon Rester 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB El Dorado | 2022 State AR had a terrific outing against Marion last Friday. Rester racked up 421 total yards and five touchdowns in the 60-27 victory. DeAndra Burns DeAndra Burns 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR El Dorado | 2023 State AR Jr continues to raise his level of play and he has the potential to have a strong outing against the Greenwood Bulldogs. I expect this title game to be one of the better state title games this season.
The 7-A State championship game is one that is going to have plenty of talented prospects to watch. Both Bryant and Fayetteville are teams capable of producing explosive plays and using the talent that they have. The Fayetteville Bulldogs have a talented quarterback in Bladen Fike Bladen Fike 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR who can make any throw ask of him and put into the tightest of windows. Jalen Blackburn Jalen Blackburn 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR and Isaiah Sategna Isaiah Sategna 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR have had excellent playoff appearances thus far this season.
Meanwhile, the Bryant Hornets are not devoid of weapons. Quarterback Carson Burnett Carson Burnett 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Bryant | 2022 State AR has no trouble picking apart a defense with his accurate throws and good decision making. Mytorian Singleton Mytorian Singleton 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Bryant | 2024 State AR and Chris Gannaway Chris Gannaway 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Bryant | 2023 State AR each give the Hornets an explosive big play threat that can take it the distance from anywhere on the field. The 7-A title game has the potential to be a close matchup that will go right down to the wire.
All the teams that have been discussed earned the title game appearances. Prep RedZone Arkansas would like to wish all of the teams good luck and enjoy one last high school football game this season!
