This game wasn’t only to decided who would become the district champions, but to see which team will stay undefeated. In the beginning of the game Jersey Village Falcons had the advantage getting a touchdown early on. Stratford Spartans started fighting back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and the game was tied up 21-21 in the 3rd quarter. However, in the last quarter Jersey Village Falcons was able to score one touchdown and hold off Stratford with a final score of 28-21. Although, the Stratford Spartans lost they still had a couple offensive standouts.
#9 Nash Rankin QB Jr 5’10 165 lbs
Nash Rankin is a solid quarterback. Nash has precision, awareness and speed. Nash could do it all he was a mobile quarterback with a great arm. Given time Nash was able to find his receiver and throw him the best pass possible. If Nash couldn’t find an open target he would just run the ball in himself. Nash was even able to rush in for a touchdown himself.
#5 Diego Denson RB, WR Sr 5’11 200 lbs
From watching Diego Denson I feel like he could play any skill position. Diego doubled as a running back and wide receiver. No matter which position he was playing he performed his job adequately. Diego is just fast he was zooming across and down the field. Diego also was strong enough to break through tackles he knew how to stay on his feet. Diego got the ball as the running back and was able to rush in the end zone, unfortunately there was a holding call on offense and the touchdown got called back. Diego is a standout athlete and The Stratford Spartans are lucky to have him.
#6 Anderson Dinh FS, CB, WR Fr
One player I was looking forward to watching again from The Stratford Spartans is #6 Anderson Dinh. Anderson is a wide receiver and probably the fastest player on The Stratford Spartans roster. And to top it all off Anderson is just a freshman. For this young man to be this quick and fast is still truly amazing to me. Anderson was running all over the field getting open for passes. Jersey Village was having a hard time covering Anderson. Anderson is definitely the athlete to keep your eyes on.
#15 Andrew Thomas WR Jr
Andrew Thomas is a great wide receiver. Andrew was incredibly fast and had good height on him towering over the defenders. One thing I would say Andrew needs to work on is committing to a route by completely running all the way and improving his foot work. However, when Andrew did commit he always got results and was even able to score a touchdown. I’m sure Andrew will improve even more and get better by his senior year of football.
