Collins was masterful in Canoga Park’s overtime win against Franklin in the first round of the LA City Section playoffs. The senior rushed for 208 yards on 26 carries with four rushing touchdowns. Collins has been one of the best running backs in the City Section all season long and it’s not surprising to see Canoga Park relying on its best player when the games count the most.

Kelvin Duran, Arleta, 2022
Much like Canoga Park, Arleta relied on its best player when it mattered the most. Arleta is the top rusher in the LA City Section according to MaxPreps and he had a nice game in Arleta’s 29-28 win over Carson in the Division 1 playoffs. Duran ran for 142 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns for Mustangs.

Matthew Kraskouskas, Mira Costa, 2022
Mira Costa shocked some people by physically dominating Pacifica on the road in the first round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs. Kraskouskas rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns for Mira Costa who led by as many as 28 points. Mira Costa will host Alta Loma in the quarterfinals this week.
Mira Costa RB Matthew Kraskouskas (201 rush yards, 2 rush TD, rec TD) was an integral part in a 35-14 victory over Pacifica but his lines deserves their share of the credit as well. @ocvarsity @breezepreps @MiraCostaFB @MatthewKraskou1 pic.twitter.com/YtXsHcHquN

Tomas Ramirez, Cypress, 2022
Cypress had to change its entire offensive identity when its starting quarterback suffered a season-ending injury weeks ago. They used to be a pass-happy offense and Ramirez would get the ball 10 times per game. He ran the ball very well in Cypress’ playoff win against Palos Verdes and the coaching staff kept feeding him the ball. Ramirez ran for 283 yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns in the 35-27 win.
Cypress RB Tomas Ramirez (323 all purpose yards, 4 total TDs) helped lead the Centurions past Palos Verdes in the second half of a 35-27 win. Cypress faces Bonita at home next week. @ocvarsity @CHSLineSixFB @TomasRamirez_04 pic.twitter.com/TGx0wqEbTG

Johnny Thompson Jr., Oaks Christian, 2023
Thompson recently committed to USC and showed that the Trojans are getting a potential star. He ran for 259 yards on just 12 carries with four touchdowns in Oaks Christian’s 41-33 win over Pacifica of Oxnard. Thompson is the best player remaining in the Division 5 playoffs and Oaks Christian will go as far as he takes them.
