The thinking was that Gaffney would have to score a bunch of points to beat T.L. Hanna. They did just that, behind three playmakers. Tyler Smith Tyler Smith 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Gaffney | 2022 State SC rushed for 93 yards and 3 scores Ken Littlejohn had 123 yards and a touchdown, and Grayson Loftis Grayson Loftis 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Gaffney | 2023 State SC threw for 187 yards and two score as the Indians avenged last year’s playoff loss, their last defeat.
Spartanburg weathered a fourth quarter flurry to defeat Spring Valley, and Raheim Jeter Raheim Jeter 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB Spartanburg | 2023 State SC led the way. He threw for 3 touchdowns, all three to Tiheim Richardson. Virginia Tech commit John Love knocked in 3 field goals in the win.
Clinton staged a comeback win over Lower Richland, outscoring the Diamond Hornets 28-7 in the second half. Jishun Copeland rushed for 129 yards, Bryson James ran for 125, and each scored 3 touchdowns for the Red Devils.
Even in a loss, Chapman’s playmakers stood out. Drew Settle Drew Settle 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Chapman | 2022 State SC threw for 293 yards and a score, DJ Black DJ Black 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Chapman | 2022 State SC made another unbelievable touchdown grab, and Derrick Miller had 200 yards of total offense for the Panthers.
