The Danes are region 6 champions in 6A, but they have their toughest challenge ahead of them in a Rams team playing as well as they have all season, coming off a 48-14 win over East Coweta.
Here are some big names to know about in the game…
Joseph Stone Joseph Stone 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Grayson | 2024 State GA – ATH – Grayson
One of the top 2024 athletes in the state, Stone is someone who can make plays in all aspects of the game. He’s a quick, explosive weapon who can make plays running and catching the ball. He plays some QB as one of the top athletes on the team, but he loves to take off and run with the ball. He scored three rushing touchdowns in last week’s round one playoff win and will be expected to make a lot of plays once again against a tough Denmark defense. IF the Rams can pull off a victory, Stone will be a big reason why.
Dee Crayton Dee Crayton 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Denmark | 2023 State GA – Denmark
One of the most dynamic players in the region, Crayton is an impressive two-way player who has been a tackling machine so far this season. The 6-foot-2 215-pounder is extremely versatile and can line up at middle linebacker, outside linebacker, and blitz from anywhere eon the field. He has a nose for the football and has enough speed to go sideline to sideline to get to the ball carrier. He’s great at getting after the passer but is reliable when dropping back into coverage as well. He runs well, and when he meets the ball carrier, he’s going to leave a bruise.
Waltclaire Flynn Jr. – OL – Grayson
Another standout sophomore for the Rams, Flynn Jr. is a stout, powerful lineman at 6-foot-1 290-pounds and has opened up holes all year long for the Rams rushing attack. He’s coming off a big weekend where he not only committed to play in the 2024 All-American Bowl, but he had a monster game on the field, helping the Rams score six rushing touchdowns in the 48-14 win. He graded out at 80% with 7 knockdowns on the day as well. He’s a road-grader who opens holes on a consistent basis. He was named “Offensive Play of the Game” for the Rams even though two other players each scored three touchdowns in the game. He’s playing his best football right now, and that’s good news for Grayson.
Shamurad Umarov Shamurad Umarov 6'6" | 275 lbs | OL Denmark | 2023 State GA – 2023 – Offensive Tackle
One of the top offensive line prospects in the entire state, Umarov is a big 6-foot-6 295-pounder who has had an impressive junior season so far. He has a solid frame, plenty of length, and still looks lean enough to continue adding solid weight and muscle. He plays with a solid base and shows impressive footwork for someone his size. He’s still learning, but he’s getting better and better with each game. He’s excellent in pass protection and knows how to get his man in the ground in the run game. He has big, strong hands and is developing and learning as the season moves along.
Mumu Bin-Wahad Mumu Bin-Wahad 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Buford | 2022 State GA – DB – Grayson
One of the top cornerback prospects in the state, the West Virginia commitment is having a great senior season as he’s intercepted three passes this season as a senior. The Danes don’t want to throw the ball a ton on offense, so if they do, Bin-wahad could be in for a big game. He’s quick, instinctive, and a natural in coverage. He has a lengthy frame and plays the ball well in the air. He’s also physical against the run, making 30 stops and 5 TFLs so far this season.
Griffin Scroggs Griffin Scroggs 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Buford | 2022 State GA – OL – Grayson
One of the top interior lineman in all of Georgia, Scroggs is a big, nasty center/guard with good size and strength. The Georgia Bulldog commitment is having a nice season where he helped open up a lot of holes for the Rams rushing attack. One of the best interior linemen in the state, Scroggs is extremely physical and knows how to put someone on the ground. He was a pancake machine this year and is expected continue leading the Rams deep into the playoffs. The Gwinnett County standout plays hard to the whistle and doesn’t need help from another lineman to take on big, powerful defensive tackles in the middle of the trenches.
