1. Mason Shorb Mason Shorb 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Rouse | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
2021 Season: 2,697 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns, 5 interceptions
Shorb has consistently been one of the best players in Central Texas but the Raiders close out the regular season against 7-2 Brenham. Both Shorb and Rouse will be looking to go into the postseason with momentum so he will be a player to watch especially after the season he has had.
2. Preston Alford Preston Alford 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Dripping Springs | 2022 State TX (SR-RB) – Dripping Springs High School (Dripping Springs, TX)
2021 Season: 907 rushing yards, 20 rushing touchdowns
The undefeated Dripping Springs Tigers now set their sights on Seguin to close out the regular season. Alford also has pretty much had the perfect season, especially for a senior, but considering the season is not yet over, Alford will not be slowing down anytime soon.
3. Devin Matthews (JR-WR) – Seguin High School (Seguin, TX)
2021 Season: 38 receptions, 770 receiving yards, 7 receiving touchdowns
For Seguin, Matthews is the player to watch. He has been senior quarterback Troy Falgout’s favorite target all year and the numbers show. One of Matthews’ best performances came against La Vernia when he had eight receptions for 345 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Since Matthews is just a junior, he will have yet another year to ball out like he has, which is exciting, but he will be looking to carry that same energy into this matchup to look for an upset.
4. Trayvian McCoy-Gay (SR-RB) – Round Rock High School (Round Rock, TX)
2021 Season: 1,243 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns
Round Rock has been dominant all season but now faces an undefeated Vandegrift team. In games such as these, the star players really stick out and McCoy-Gay is one of those players to keep an eye on. Just by numbers alone, he has had a monster year and while the Vipers look to shut him down, he will be looking to continue his success.
5. Reece Beauchamp (SR-WR) – Vandegrift High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 30 receptions, 735 receiving yards, 13 receiving touchdowns
Beauchamp is in the same position, just as a wide receiver. He has been junior quarterback Brayden Buchanan’s favorite target all season and the two have become a deadly duo. Although the Round Rock defense will be looking to silence this duo, Vandegrift has many targets and tools on the offense that it will be difficult to keep Beauchamp down for long.
