Jalen Huskey Jalen Huskey 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Quince Orchard | 2022 State MD (2022) | 6’1 CB/PR | Quince Orchard
Huskey is a shutdown corner. He has the ability to play press coverage and take a receiver out of the game. He is not one-dimensional as he excels in both man and zone coverage. He does a great job of staying attached to receivers and doesn’t give up any easy catches. He is also a dangerous return man on special teams. Walter Johnson will air it out Friday so Huskey will need to continue to play well in coverage.
Amir Frye Amir Frye 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Walter Johnson | 2022 MD (2022) | 6’3 DE/LB | Walter Johnson
Frye was the best player on the field last Friday. He is a disruptive player that can rush the passer off the edge or be a dangerous blitzer off the ball. When he lines up on the edge he sets the edge and doesn’t allow anything outside of him. He is also a great pass rusher as his get-off is faster than anyone else in this county. He also has the ability to play off the ball at linebacker and be a sideline to sideline run stopper. Frye had a big game in the regular season against Quince Orchard he will be looking for a repeat performance.
Cryst Woods (2022) | 5’9 DT | Northwest
Woods has been the most disruptive interior lineman in the county this season. He plays with great pad level and is explosive off the line. He has great hands and that helps him fight off blockers. He is also a great pass rusher. He is athletic enough to sniff out screens and chase down running backs from behind. He has been special this season. Woods will look to continue his dominance in the playoffs.
Jaden Selby (2022) | 6’2 QB | Churchill
Selby has proven that he is a top 2 quarterback in the county. He can make all the touch throws from inside the pocket. He also has a strong arm that allows him to throw the deep ball extremely well. He also has enough mobility and accuracy to make throws on the move. He also is a threat to run the ball. Selby is the perfect dual-threat quarterback college coaches look for. Selby will need to make some big plays if they want to upset Northwest.
Shaun Lee (2022) | 6’1 G/DT | Paint Branch
Lee has been one of the top linemen in the county. He is extremely mobile and is a devastating pulling guard. He is a nasty run blocker as he is able to get his hands inside and drive defenders back. He also has great technique in pass protection and does a great job of keeping his quarterback clean. Paint Branch has looked like a real state title contender and Lee is a big reason why.
Bryson Perryman (2022) | 5’8 HB | Einstein
Perryman is the perfect small back for the spread offense. He gets skinny and fits through holes. He also has a good burst and is dangerous once he gets to the second level. He also has great vision and has the ability to cut on a dime which makes him extremely dangerous every time he has the ball in his hands. Einstein has a tough game ahead of them but if Perryman can help them move the ball it could be interesting.
Kendall Anderson (2023) | 6’3 QB | Blair
Anderson has been one of the biggest breakout stars of the season. Blair’s offense has been dynamic and that is because of Anderson. He has a huge arm and has the ability to take the top off the defense with every throw. He is also extremely strong as he is able to stand in the pocket absorb a hit and still make the throw. Blair has some great weapons for Anderson so expect them to air it out as they continue their playoff run.
Tylek Bright (2022) | 6’0 HB/DE | Seneca Valley
There aren’t many impact players on both sides of the ball. Bright is an all-county candidate on both offense and defense. On offense, he is Seneca’s leading back. He runs hard and is very tough to bring down. He breaks tackles and always picks up yardage after contact. He is also a great receiver out of the backfield. On defense, he plays on the edge. He does a great job of keeping his outside arm free which allows him to play contain at a very high level. He uses his quickness and good hands to get in the backfield and tackles for loss. Bright has been very good and don’t expect that to stop as Seneca will look to make a state championship push.
Nathan Natoli (2022) | 6’4 T | Sherwood
Natoli is a dominant offensive tackle. On run plays, he uses his size and power to demolish defenders. He is always sure to finish off his blocks. In pass protection, he shows that he has great footwork and hand placement. Not only is he a leader on this Sherwood team but he is also one of the top offensive linemen in the state.
Kam Reynolds (2023) | 5’9 HB/SS | Springbrook
Reynolds is a two-way star for Springbrook. On the offensive end, he is the main ball carrier. He runs hard and breaks weak arm tackles. He also has great vision and has the ability to put on a move to get to open field. Once he reaches the open field he shows great speed and breaks off long runs. On defense, he is a defensive weapon. He is versatile and lines up all over the field, he can play safety, in the slot, linebacker, and he can even line up at the edge. He is a great tackler and has great pursuit. He also has the ability to drop into coverage and make plays on the ball. Reynolds has had a big season and hopefully, he can spark some magic this week.
Dre’Quan Smith (2022) | 5’10 HB/LB | Blake
Smith has been Blake’s best player. On the offensive side of the ball, he is Blake’s bell-cow back. He runs hard and with power. He does a great job of running North and South and picking up as much yardage as possible. On defense, he is their middle linebacker. He does a great job in pursuit as he has sideline to sideline range. He also does a good job when he drops into coverage. Smith will have a tough test this week as he looks to help keep Blake’s season alive.
Daniel Santos (2022) | 6’0 DE | Magruder
Santos is a very physical defensive end. He overpowers blockers and gets into the backfield. He also does a great job of getting skinny and slipping blocks. He is a big-hitter and makes ball carriers pay for going to the outside. In pass rush, he has quick moves that allow him to get pressure quickly. Santos has had a record-breaking season and expect him to turn it up a notch as the playoffs go on.
Dillon Dunathan Dillon Dunathan 6'2" | 230 lbs | LB Damascus | 2023 State MD (2023) | 6’2 HB/LB | Damascus
Dunathan has been Damascus’ guy all year. On offense, he is their main power back and does a great job of running over defenders and picking up chunk yardage. On defense, he lines up at both linebacker and on the edge. He can rush the passer, stop the run, set the edge, and he also has good pursuit to chase down ball carriers. Dunathan will be key to Damascus’ run at the state title.
