The Dickinson Gators (9-3) vs The Atascocita Eagles (10-2) was an exciting game. The game started off with The Dickinson Gators setting the tempo off early their defense held off the strong offensive Atascocita Eagles to zero points the whole 1st half. The score before halftime was 14-0 with The Dickinson Gators in the lead. However, during the 3rd quarter Atascocita Eagles got their second wind and was efficiently moving the ball and scored two by the end of the quarter. The 4th quarter was a battle and the game went down to the last second and the final score was 22-21 Atascocita Eagles winning with a field goal at the end of the game. The Atascocita Eagles had a lot of standouts on both sides of the ball I’ll be discussing the standouts on the offensive side.
#6 Tyras Winfield RB, WR Sr 5’9 175 lbs
The Atascocita Eagles is best known for their offensive formation and wide receivers. One of the best wide receivers is #6 Tyras Winfield. Tyras is fast with great footwork using it to get open for passes. Tyras is able to cut up down the field get off his defender and catch the ball for a lot of yards. If Tyras got enough separation and space between his defenders no one could catch up to him. Tyras is a college prospect having three offers from East Texas Baptist University, Arkansas Tech and Louisiana College. Tyras by the end of the night scored two reception touchdowns giving Atascocita the needed momentum to win the game.
#5 Zion Brown QB So 6’0 170 lbs
This athlete continues to improve week after week sophomore quarterback Zion Brown led his team to victory. Zion is an extremely mobile quarterback he was always fast and good at running, but has gotten better at passing while under pressure. Zion threw a lot of good passes Friday night and honestly some of them were lucky. Zion still has a lot of room to improve and still trying to fill the shoes of previous injured ranked senior quarterback Gavin Session, but he has the potential to be one of top quarterbacks in the state during the playoff season. Zion ended the night by throwing three touchdown passes.
#1 Chase Sowell WR Sr 6’3 195 lbs
Chase is like a magnet to the football nearly catching all the passes thrown to him. Chase is a great wide receiver even if passes were bad or tipped off/blocked he still managed to catch any ball thrown his way. Chase as expected is also fast and tall with a long reach being able to catch passes most people couldn’t. Chase also is a college prospect having four offers from Sam Houston State University, University of Northern Iowa, Howard Payne University and UTSA. Chase had a great night against Dickinson as a senior he will play his hardest for his last shot at a high school championship.
#2 Keith Wheeler Keith Wheeler 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Atascocita | 2022 State TX WR Sr 6’1 175 lbs
Keith Wheeler Keith Wheeler 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Atascocita | 2022 State TX is an extremely fast wide receiver. Keith was zooming down the field all night long and showcased the most speed on Atascocita lineup. Keith was able to shake off his and get open for passes and once ran a curl route for a big gain. Keith was also great support with blocking he went in for a chop block one play that put Atascocita in a great position. Keith is a college prospect having college and universities offers from University of Tulsa, Arkansas University, University of Houston, Kansas University, UTSA and many others. Keith ended the night with one reception touchdown.
