Right now, it looks like the undefeated Collins Hill Eagles are the favorite to win it all at the moment, but there are multiple teams who are healthy and ready to make a giant playoff run over the next few weeks.
Here are some top title contenders in 7A and players to know about over the next few weeks…
Collins Hill:
Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA :
The 5-star ATH is still dealing with an injury, but if he’s able to bounce back for the final few games, he becomes the best player in the playoffs. One of the top players in the entire country, Hunter had 46 catches for just under 700 yards and 5 TDs before his injury. He also made 16 tackles and two INTs on defense. If he plays, he’s almost unstoppable.
Sam Horn Sam Horn 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Collins Hill | 2022 State GA :
The senior QB has a big arm and had a fantastic senior season, distributing the ball and pushing it deep down the field. He has a live, strong arm, throwing for 23,90 yards and 22 touchdowns. The future Missouri Tiger takes care of the ball and has led them to an undefeated season so far.
Asani Redwood:
One of the breakout players across the state, Redwood is having an incredible senior season and has become one of the state’s sack leaders. He’s been tough to block at defensive end due to his size and raw athleticism, but he’s gotten better and better each week as he’s progressed and continues to learn more about the game. He’s one of the top senior prospects without a D1 offer. He’s made 74 tackles, 26 TFLs, and has made 14 sacks.
Milton:
Lebbeus Overton Lebbeus Overton 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Milton | 2022 GA :
One of the top junior prospects in the country, Overton is an incredible pass-rusher off the edge and one of the better athletes across the state. He has great size, burst, and can get after the passer as well as any defender in the state. He’s a 5-star for a reason, and now that he’s healthy, he’s going to be tough to stop off the edge for anyone. He’s a true game-changer and will hope to lead a strong Milton team deep into the 7A playoffs.
Jordan McDonald Jordan McDonald 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Milton | 2022 State GA :
One of the top senior running backs in the state, McDonald has been a bowling ball for the Eagles this season, rushing 100 times for 873 yards and 15 touchdowns. The future Central Florida Knight is big, strong, and breaks tackles on a regular basis. Running behind one of the top offensive lines in the state, look for McDonald to carry the load for the Eagles in these final few games.
Bryce Thornton Bryce Thornton 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA :
One of the top 2023 defensive backs in the state, Thornton is a true do-it-all athlete who can make plays on offense, defense, and special teams. He showed great ball skills this season and has a true nose for the football as a defensive back. As a junior this season, Thornton made 60 tackles as a defensive back and intercepted three passes while breaking up seven more. He also added 379 total yards and one rushing touchdown.

Through his first five games, Morrissette has caught 30 passes for 550 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has size, ball skills, and he’s faster than most realize. He’s going to be tough to cover for any defensive back across from him over the next few weeks.

One of the top senior defensive backs in the state, Groves-Killebrew is a true cover-corner with impressive length and overall speed. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder can cover bigger receivers and is fast enough to stay with smaller, speedy receivers. He’s made 24 tackles this season and has picked off two passes. He’s also a threat in the return game due to his speed and athleticism. Look for him to get some reps on offense throughout the playoffs as well.
Lowndes:
