Whether they are committing to schools, narrowing down their top choices, or just taking a step back, there’s a lot happening on the recruiting trail in the peach state.
Here are some prospects in Georgia who made big decisions on their recruitment this week…
Joshua Josephs – EDGE – North Cobb
The Tennessee Vols are doing their best to get back to the program they used to be, and under new head coach Josh Heupel, things are going in the right direction on the recruiting trail after picking a commitment from one of the top pass rushers in Georgia. The three-star EDGE defender has an extremely long frame at 6-foot-3 215-pounds and knows how to get after the passer. He’s one of the top defenders in Cobb County and chose the Vols over Michigan, Auburn, Penn State, among others.

Isaiah Bond Isaiah Bond 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Buford | 2022 State GA – ATH – Buford
One of the fastest players in the country, Bond decided to take a step back in his recruitment and de-commit from Florida after the firing of former head coach Dan Mullen. Bond had committed to Florida back in May, and stayed firmly committed for several months, but after seeing the direction the program was heading in, the speedy 5-foot-11 175-pounder decided to open up his recruitment. After a visit to Alabama this past weekend, sources tell Prep Redzone that the Crimson Tide are the team out in front for Bond at the moment. He’s also earned recent offers from Oregon, LSU, Auburn, among others in the last 48 hours since his Florida decommitment.

Matteo Carriere Matteo Carriere 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Alpharetta | 2022 State GA – WR – Alpharetta
One of the more explosive receivers in North Georgia, Carriere is coming off an excellent senior season where he caught 51 passes for 708 yards and 7 touchdowns on the season. He’s quick, can change directions well, and knows how to get behind the defense. He’s a true athlete with excellent speed who plays basketball and runs track in the off-season. He’s a big-play waiting to happen, and he’ll have plenty of opportunities to make plays at Central Michigan. He chose the Chippewas over Army and others.

PJ Simmons PJ Simmons 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Eagle's Landing Christian Academy | 2022 State GA – Defensive Back – Eagles Landing Christian
One of the more underrated defensive backs in the Atlanta area, Simmons is a two-way player who is excellent with the ball in his hands. He has size and length at 6-foot-2 190-pounds and showed toughness and strong instincts as a defender this season. He’s excellent in coverage as a hybrid linebacker/safety, taking to INTs back for touchdowns this year. He’s also a strong tackler and wraps up well at the feet and legs. He made his commitment this week to Georgia State.
Blessed to say I am committed to Georgia State University 🙏🏾 @OLBeastCoach03 @CoachSElliott pic.twitter.com/L5McQ6MC7m
