Meet The Most Dynamic ’26 in Louisiana: Montrell Conner Jr.
Name: Montrell Conner Jr.
Position: Quarterback
Future High School: St. Frederick High School
Height: 5-foot-8
Weight: 140 pounds
Scouting Report: There is not a more dynamic play maker in the entire state of Louisiana for the class of 2026, than Montrell Conner Jr. That’s it, that’s the opening sentence.
“He’s a major prospect,” said Andy Robinson, head coach at St. Frederick School. “Kid is electric and probably the most explosive kid in a five-state radius. I am happy to have him.”
Watching his film it’s hard to argue anything his future head coach is saying. Conner Jr. is the son of a former high school All-American and with what he’s doing on the football field, it’s looking like he could be next. Conner is naturally a dual-threat quarterback who is elite with this legs but is quickly becoming elite with his arm strength and accuracy too.
“Every day he’s out there with the tire hanging from the tree and throwing ball after ball through the hole,” said his father, Montrell Conner Sr. “He just loves to play the quarterback position.”
Conner is a righty who isn’t the biggest in terms of stature right now at just 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds, but he has a stronger arm than other 2026 prospects with 6+ inches and 30+ pounds on him. He has a quick release, does a great job of keeping his eyes downfield and consistently makes big things happen when the play looks like it’s all but snuffed out.
“He has evolved this year. He’s not just an athlete who can play quarterback, he’s a quarterback who is also an athlete,” said the elder Conner.
When describing him, the obvious name that comes to mind is Michael Vick. While Vick wasn’t the biggest dude in the world, he caused more sleepless nights for defensive coordinators than anyone else because of his legs. Conner Jr. is cut from a very similar mold, where he can, and will, beat defenses with his dual-threat ability.
Track Background: As alluded to above, Conner Jr. has speed for days. He doesn’t only use it on the football field either, as he is also a track and field All-American. The elite athlete has been laser timed at a 4.5 in the forty yard dash, clocked at an 11.09 in the 100M, a 22.86 in the 200M and a 13.4 in the Hurdles. Perhaps even more impressive than the previously mentioned, he broke the AAU National record for his age group this past summer in the long jump with a 21’02”.
Family Connection: The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with ability. Montrell Conner Sr. was a 4-star running back and Under Armour All-American in 2009. At the Under Armour All-American Game he shared the field with notable names such as Matt Barkley, Trent Richardson, Alshon Jeffrey and Zach Martin. He was recruited by nearly every major school in the country before signing with Mississippi State. After dealing with some injury issues, he also had a stint at Troy University as well.
