Here’s a look at the 8th Grade Division 2 winners, my two cents on their ability and film where applicable. For reference, Division 2 means the schools are middle of the road when it comes to male student population
Region 1 – Trey Sedgwick Trey Sedgwick 5'7" | 145 lbs | WR Madisonville-North Hopkins | 2026 KY | Wide Receiver | Browning Springs
Pops’ Two Cents: Lightning in a bottle at wide receiver. Only 5-foot-6 but good luck getting a hand on this young man to bring him down. Reminds me a lot of former Carolina Panthers great Steve Smith Sr. with the tough guy attitude he brings to the field. Loves to compete and is a flat out baller. Kentucky Future Stars MVP last year.

Region 2 – Donnez Marshall | Defensive Line | Shelby West
Pops’ Two Cents: Disruptive interior defensive lineman at the middle school level. Keeps a very low center of gravity and overpowers most guards and centers. Moves well for a big guy and has quick hands and feet. Played for Team Kentucky in the FBU tournament the last two years.

Region 3 – Xavier Clay | Wide Receiver | Georgetown
Pops’ Two Cents: Good speed, great length and elite ability to adjust to the ball in the air. Runs pretty good routes for an athlete at this level. His toughness and ability to win 50/50 balls is one of the tops I’ve seen in the country. Will need to hit the weight room hard and fill out to equal his middle school success in high school.

Region 4 – Cam Estep | Quarterback | Corbin
Pops’ Two Cents: Absolute stud of an athlete. Estep is a gamer and a winner that most coaches in the country would love to have. Older brother Chase plays baseball at the University of Kentucky. Also excels on the basketball court and baseball diamond. Was named the conference championship game MVP.
