Hoover and Sparkman look to start their postseason this Friday in a matchup that will feature a ton of big-time players in this Prospect Watch!
HOOVER
Bennett Meredith Bennett Meredith 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Hoover | 2022 State AL – |QB| |6’3 190|
Bennett Meredith Bennett Meredith 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Hoover | 2022 State AL has steadily become one of the state’s best passers over the course of his career at Hoover. Meredith has great arm talent as he makes accurate and difficult passes with ease, mobility that allows him to extend plays, and confidence in the pocket that has also been able to lead his offense and team to a 10-0 record on the season. Although receiving offers from Troy, Appalachian State, and Toledo, Meredith recently announced his commitment to Northwestern where he will continue his football career!
Jay Avery Jay Avery 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Hoover | 2023 State AL – |DB| |6’0 150|
Jay Avery Jay Avery 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Hoover | 2023 State AL is an under-the-radar defensive back that we have had eyes on for a while, and he has only gotten better this fall. Avery has great size and athleticism that has allowed him to be a physical threat towards any opposing offense. Avery is great in man coverage where he consistently forces incompletions and turnovers in the secondary. Against the run, Avery provides just as much support, he doesn’t shy away from contact and can make difficult tackles for his defense. Currently, Avery lists offers from UAB, Troy, and Charlotte, with more surely on the way soon.
Dale Miller- |DB| |5’10 163|
Dale Miller is another member of the incredibly talented Hoover secondary and has proven he belongs there with how well he has played this season. Miller has great speed, ball skills, and instincts that have allowed him to become the player he has become. Miller always finds himself near the ball, using his superior athleticism to make plays all over the field for his defense. Consequently, Miller has garnered significant collegiate attention due to his playmaking ability, receiving offers from USC, Arkansas, Tennessee, and more.
SPARKMAN
Kenny Hall Kenny Hall 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Sparkman | 2022 State AL – |CB| |5’10 175|
Kenny Hall Kenny Hall 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Sparkman | 2022 State AL has played at an elite level throughout his career at Sparkman and continues to be a huge player in their secondary. Hall has terrific instincts to play at the cornerback position, as he always knows where plays are headed. Hall routinely meets the ball carrier with force, making great tackles and breaking up passes to prevent any plays from gaining yardage. Hall recently gave his commitment to Navy, and will surely be an impact player for them soon.
Malachi Jones- |LB| |5’11 225|
Malachi Jones has emerged as one of Sparkman’s best tacklers, consistently taking down the ball carrier and making plays for his defense. Against the run, Jones excels, as he quickly dissects where the ball is heading, meets inside the correct gap, and wraps up very well. Against the pass, Jones also does very well, his coverage closes up passing lanes across the middle of the field, making it increasingly difficult for opposing passing attacks to be efficient. Jones is a very good piece of the Sparkman defense and will demand attention from Hoover this week.
Jorhdan Brown- |OL/DL| |6’3 306|
Jorhdan Brown has been incredibly versatile for Sparkman this year, as he has lined up at both offensive and defensive line throughout this season. Brown possesses great size, power, and technique as a blocker, consistently protecting his quarterback well and opening up lanes for the run game. Defensively, Brown has been able to shed blocks and make plays in the opponent’s backfield on a consistent basis. Brown currently lists an offer from Culver Stockton, with likely more on the way soon for the versatile lineman.
