Playoff football is in full swing in the state of Georgia, and so far, teams have already started to make their mark, and strike fear in the hearts of opposing teams. Below, we have noted some of or favorite first round playoff MVP’s, who did more than shine this past week, but managed to step up to the plate in a critical time of the season, in which their team’s need a spark more than anything.
Kaleb Webb Kaleb Webb 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR McEachern | 2022 State GA (WR)- McEachern
Last Friday, Webb continued to shine for the Indians. In his team’s win over South Gwinnett, he caught 9 passes, and totaled about 218 yards. In addition to this, he contributed with 2 touchdowns, in which 1 ended up being the game winning score. His performance helped his team come out on top 34-28.
Damari Alston Damari Alston 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Woodward Academy | 2022 State GA (RB)- Woodward Academy
Alston has found his name on this list countless times this season, so it should not come as a shocker that he has stood out for Woodward this week of the playoffs. Last Friday, he toted the rock 17 times, and ran for 142 yards. With these yards, he also managed to score 4 times, capping off a big time showing in which his team won 48-14 over Veterans High.
Qamar Grant (QB)- Pebblebrook
In a very close win over Parkview, Grant stood out, and stepped up for his team. As the leader for Pebblebrook, Grant managed to complete 20 of his 31 passes. With this, he managed to throw for over 310 yards, and 5 TD’s- which seemed to be enough to muscle out a 44-41 win. This impressive performance has us excited for the rest of the season, as we expect him to be an X factor for his team.
Rob Brown (RB)- Trion
Brown is finally starting to get the attention he deserves, as he made a name for himself last week in Trion’s big time playoff win over Social Circle High. In this game, not only did he rush for 4 TD’s, but he also caught a TD pass. With this being said, he accounted for 30 of his team’s 55 points, that helped them win 55-21.
Kaden McDonald (DL)- North Gwinnett
During the game last Friday, McDonald was a huge part of North Gwinnett’s win over South Forsyth. In this game, not only did he make timely tackles, and timely plays, but he also managed to rack up 7 sacks on his own. If he can continue to replicate any inkling of this success next week, his team will continue to have a high level of success in the playoffs.
Gunner Stockton Gunner Stockton 6'1" | 220 lbs | QB Rabun County | 2022 State GA (QB)- Rabun County
Stockton has managed to make himself at home on these weekly lists, as he has not only already shown out in the playoffs, but has had a very strong season so far in 2021. This past Friday, not only did he help lead his team to a 63-14 win, but he also threw for over 300 yards. To be exact, Stockton went 18 for 21 in the air, and threw for 302 yards and 5 TD’s. In addition to this, he also ran the ball 12 times, for 154 yards, and 2 TD’s, making him an absolute force to be reckoned with. As the season progresses, opposing teams should be scared of what Stockton can do to beat them in the air, and on the ground.
Autavius Ison (RB)- Riverdale
During the game last Friday, not only did Ison help Riverdale come out on top of Central Carroll 49-28, but he also had a ton of success on the ground. Alone, he proved to be very difficult to stop, and he ran for 3 TD’s, contributing with 18 points of his own. Next week, we think he will continue to be a key part of his team’s game plan, as they will look to continue to advance throughout the playoffs.
Kace Adams (DB)- Cartersville
Last week, Adams was one of the biggest standout stars for Cartersville as they routed Lithonia in the first round of the playoffs. In this game, not only did he intercept the ball 3 times, but he managed to return 2 of them for TD’s. This strong defensive performance helped his team to come out on top 51-0.
