But there will only be two teams left in this portion of the bracket by the time we get to midnight on Saturday morning and we’ve got two intriguing games that should be fun to watch that features stout defensive fronts and explosive offenses that can put up points. Something has to give, and it will on Friday night.
No. 3 Irmo (7-3) at No. 2 Greenville (9-2)
Irmo dispatched Westside easily last Friday night 42-20 as their defense was able to control things throughout the night. You have to figure that LB Nick Emmanwori was a critical part of the effort. DeAree Rogers had six touchdowns in the win last week and is a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball for the Yellow Jackets. But they will face their biggest challenge of the playoffs on the road in the Upstate this week. Greenville came back to defeat the defending 4A champion, A.C. Flora 27-26 as QB Prometheus Franklin (pictured) connected with WR Tyler Brown Tyler Brown 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Greenville | 2023 State SC with 28 seconds left to secure the win.
No. 1 South Pointe (9-1) at No. 1 Greenwood (10-1)
South Pointe defeated Laurens in a 47-20 rout as WR Waymond Jenerette broke the school’s single season record in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He’s been a scoring machine for the Stallions. And the defense hasn’t been bad either. DB Chris McCullough had two interceptions and one pass breakup in Friday’s win. But they will have to hit the road for a two-hour road trip down Highway 72 to Greenwood to face Ve Morton, Daylan Rappley and the option attack of the Eagles, which will be a test for the defensive line of A.J. Miller and Anquerrious Davis Anquerrious Davis 6'0" | 225 lbs | DL South Pointe | 2022 State SC .
