Continue ReadingHouston playoffs keep getting better every single week. Round three I decided to go watch The Atascocita Eagles (11-2) vs The Ridge Points Panthers (11-2). Both teams are top 10 in Houston and favorited to win the state championship this year. The game started off strong with both teams stopping each other from scoring. The Atascocita Eagles were the 1st to score before the 2nd half. During the 2nd half both teams were scoring back to back, but The Ridge Point Panthers couldn’t catch up to The Atascocita Eagles the final score was 24-21 with The Atascocita Eagles moving on to regional finals. The Atascocita Eagles had a lot of outstanding athletes on both sides of the ball and I’ll be discussing the offensive standouts.
#6 Tyras Winfield RB, WR Sr 5’9 175 lbs
The Atascocita Eagles is best known for their offensive formation and wide receivers. #6 Tyras is definitely the fastest wide receiver on Atascocita roster. Tyras used his speed to get pass his defender and catch the pass. Tyras at times lined up at the running back position. One play Tyras took a hit roll off of it and still kept up a great run for a 40 yard run. If Tyras got enough separation and space between him and his defenders no one could catch up to him. Tyras is a college prospect having three offers from East Texas Baptist University, Arkansas Tech and Louisiana College. Tyras finished night with one touchdown.
#5 Zion Brown QB So 6’0 170 lbs
Sophomore Zion Brown has become a dependable and reliable quarterback for The Atascocita Eagles. Zion is an extremely mobile quarterback preferring use his speed to run the ball then to pass it. However, Zion can throw good passes when he needs to. Zion still has a lot of room to improve and still trying to fill the shoes of previous injured ranked senior quarterback Gavin Session, but he has the potential to be one of top quarterbacks in the state during the playoff season. Zion ended the night by throwing two touchdown passes.
#1 Chase Sowell WR Sr 6’3 195 lbs
Chase Sowell is a great and reliable wide receiver nearly catching all the passes thrown to him. Chase is tall and fast being a great option to pass to. Chase is capable of catching any ball thrown his way. Chase is also strong and persistent being really tough to tackle and bring down. Chase is a college prospect having four offers from Sam Houston State University, University of Northern Iowa, Howard Payne University and UTSA. Chase ended the night with one receiving touchdown.
#2 Keith Wheeler Keith Wheeler 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Atascocita | 2022 State TX WR Sr 6’1 175 lbs
Keith Wheeler Keith Wheeler 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Atascocita | 2022 State TX is a speedy wide receiver. Keith is fast off the ball cause of this he is a great quick pass option. With his speed Keith was able to pick up a lot of 1st down that put Atascocita in great positions to score. Keith is a college prospect having college and universities offers from University of Tulsa, Arkansas University, University of Houston, Kansas University, UTSA and many others. Keith’s quickness and speed made him standout and a great wide receiver for Atascocita.
