Here are a few offensive players to keep an eye on in Week 8. We’ll start with the western portion of the Wiregrass.
Mykel Johnson Mykel Johnson 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Enterprise | 2023 State AL | 5-9 RB | Enterprise
Johnson has been a staple of the Wildcats’ offense this season. He is a dominant force on the ground and is a crucial asset in the pass-catching scheme. The Wildcats host Jeff Davis in a big region game this Friday.
Jaylen Murry | 6-0 RB | Wicksburg
Murry is a top running back in the state and has over 1,000 rushing yards on the season. He is a shifty tailback that can elevate down the sideline in a flash. Wicksburg faces Houston Academy on Friday night at Panther Stadium.
Emmanuel Henderson Emmanuel Henderson 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB Geneva County | 2022 State AL | 6-1 RB, OLB, SS | Geneva County
Henderson is the top running back in the state for the class of 2022. He runs with power and a large burst of speed and can bounce off tackles easily to gain extra yards. If there are open holes, Henderson can take it to the house for a long touchdown. Geneva County hosts G.W. Long on Friday in a crucial region matchup.
Jacob Branch | 6-0 QB | Samson
Branch is a solid quarterback that has a strong arm and can make accurate passes anywhere on the field. He can also use his legs to scramble out of the pocket and avoid pressure to extend the play.
Timothy McReynolds | 6-0 RB | Geneva
McReynolds is a star in the backfield. He is quick and shifty and can change direction in a matter of seconds. McReynolds is a solid pass catcher and is also a star on defense that can make plays all over the field.
Trenton Hamilton | 5-8 WR | Elba
Hamilton is a versatile pass catcher that can come back to the ball and make defenders miss after the catch. He is a speedy receiver that can bolt down the sideline in a hurry and race to the endzone after a short pass.
Gray Jennings | 6-1 QB | Opp
Jennings might be one of the best quarterbacks in all of the Wiregrass. He has led Opp to a 7-1 record and a likely Class 3A Region 2 title. Jennings has an excellent arm and can hit receivers in stride on any route. He can also air it out on deep routes and uses his legs to an effective standpoint in crucial situations.
