Gray Collegiate running back [player_tooltip player_id="89314" first="Kazarius" last="Adams"] had a mistake early in the fourth quarter that he rarely makes. The senior Georgia State commitment fumbled to give Saluda life while trailing by one score. But when the War Eagles defense got the offense the ball back, Adams wanted to make sure he atoned for his mistake.

His burst up the middle on a 24-yard touchdown run with 2:27 remaining sealed the 20-6 victory in a battle of ranked Class 2A teams.

Adams was spectacular in playing both ways. He finished with 220 yards on 30 carries in addition to playing the entire game at cornerback. Adams has over 1,600 yards rushing on the season.

Saluda (5-2, 2-1) received two short field goals from Sam Espinoza to account for their points.

Gray Collegiate improves to 6-1, 3-0.

Adams was not the only standout. We will look at the other outstanding performers for both teams.

- Gray Collegiate quarterback Tre Robinson added 100 yards rushing on 12 carries and two scores. His 21-yard run in the first half gave the War Eagles an early 6-0 lead. He added a 15-yard scamper in the third quarter that made it 13-6 in the middle of the third quarter.

- Savien Jones, JK Hilton, Lala Radden and Dayton Williams were dominant along the line of scrimmage and that never allowed Saluda to get into a rhythm on offense. [player_tooltip player_id="200737" first="Alec" last="Johnson"] played the entire game on the offensive line and rotated in to assist as well.

- Linebackers Zach Glenn and [player_tooltip player_id="60990" first="Jordan" last="Robinson"] also had solid performances in keeping the Tigers out of the end zone.

- Saluda was not able to punch in a touchdown but quarterback Jonah McCary and running back Montrevious Baker showed flashes. McCary finished 19-of-30 for 167 yards even though he faced pressure on most of his passes. Baker played the entire game as well, adding linebacker duties to his resume. He was the leading rusher for the Tigers with 69 yards on 16 carries.

- Zion Wright is a 6-5, 170 junior that has the potential to develop into a solid receiver. He caught five passes for 55 yards and could turn into a big-play threat.

- Gage Rinehart is a 6-1, 285-pound junior that held his own from his right tackle spot. The Tigers are big up front with 6-3, 310-pound junior Melvin Minick is a factor as well.
