The DeWitt Panthers have looked very impressive this season. They still have just the lone loss to Portland in week 2. Since that loss, they have steamrolled their way through opponents. Stevensville Lakeshore heads into this matchup at 6-2, with their two losses coming to Portage Northern and Battle Creek Lakeview.
In a big game like this DeWitt will need to turn to their key receiver in Tommy McIntosh Tommy McIntosh 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR DeWitt | 2022 State MI . In a lot of games this season, DeWitt has not needed to turn McIntosh to make timely plays. This could be one of those games where McIntosh may have to make some crucial 3rd down catches and big-play touchdowns. DeWitt’s quarterback Tyler Holtz has been excellent at getting his best-skill players the ball when it’s needed. Look for Holtz to spread the football around in this game and look for his star receiver McIntosh more often.
One of Lakeshore’s key players is quarterback Ryan Korfmacher who played good football in the loss to Battle Creek Lakeview last week. Korfmacher was 9/19 for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns. Stevensville Lakeshore has a great running back in Andrew Lies who accounted for 143 yards last week against Battle Creek Lakeview. Lakeshore would love another 100 plus yard performance in this football game from Lies.
Lansing Catholic (8-0) vs Pewamo-Westphalia (8-0)
It doesn’t get much better than this. Lansing Catholic comes in undefeated having only one close call in week 6 in their 2 point win over Portland. Pewamo-Westphalia is unbeaten with 4 shutout wins on the year. In games like this, it may come down to what team has the football last.
Lansing Catholic has a great quarterback in Joey Baker. Baker is very calm in the pocket and has a lot of confidence in his ability to throw the football. Joey Baker showed his leadership against Portland when he lead a game-winning drive with just 43 seconds left in the football game. Lasing Catholic has an exciting wide receiver in Alex Watters Alex Watters 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Lansing Catholic | 2022 MI . Watters had a clutch catch along the sideline in the final drive against Portland. Watters is a quarterback’s best friend since he is such a sure-handed pass-catcher.
Pewamo-Westphalia has a terrific dual-threat quarterback in Troy Wertman. Wertman is so hard to bring down as a runner. He has a strong upper and lower body and can break tackles with ease. Wertman also has breakaway speed and has the potential to take the football to the house each time he touches it (Hudl) Pewamo-Westphalia also features another talented player in Dak Ewalt. Ewalt had an 18 yard rushing touchdown in the win over Olivet. Westphalia would love to get the running game going against a tough Lansing Catholic defense. A big night from Dak Ewalt and Troy Wertman on the ground could very likely lead to a win for Pewamo-Westphalia.
