Below, we will break down some of those performances and check the tape of these respective players.
Villiami Teu, St. Francis HS
Teu has been playing against some of the best talent in the state, and has been dominant in all phases of running the ball. A well put together player, he runs tough and physical while showing strong contact balance, body control and can stick his toe in the ground and be gone in one cut. More of a North and South runner, he likes to get downhill quickly, but is athletic enough to bounce it outside and force defenders to take bad angles. A very balanced back, there are plenty of high tier schools that should be taking a hard look at one of the best 2022 backs in the state.
Joaquin Porcayo, Yuba City HS
One of the most dynamic players in the section and a two way star, Porcayo is having a huge season and can make plays in the open field every time he touches the ball. He has elite top end speed and short area movement abilities in traffic, while able to bounce off tackles and consistently fall forward while running tough, especially for his size. Also able to play corner, he is fluid in space, has natural ball skills and plays physical when in press while seemingly understanding his role in zone coverage and able to work off receivers and attack the ball.
Ananias Walker, Rancho Cotate HS
A long and physical player that is only in his second season, Walker should continue to develop into one of the regions top players in the coming years. Taking a kickoff back for a touchdown this past week along with showing his versatility on both sides of the ball, he does a great job at using his size and length to win 50/50 balls and highpoint while showing strong hands in traffic. A vertical threat, he is quick in and out of his breaks while able to sink his hips and shows some good COD while offering nice upside at the next level.
Adrian Ramirez, Los Banos HS
One of the most explosive backs in the valley, Ramirez without a doubt has next level abilities. A downhill runner that runs behind his pads, he hits the hole quickly while showing good vision with cutback ability and a good burst through the first level and sneaky open field speed. Ramirez plays a lot bigger than he is and is tough to bring down, while also able to catch the ball out of the backfield. This week against Lathrop, he exploded for 255 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns while continuing his dominance through out the central valley.
