Hamas Duren Hamas Duren 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Winslow Township | 2022 NJ | Winslow
Duren led the state in passing yards this past week as he completed 18 of his 35 passes for 354 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-21 victory over Holy Spirit. He now has 28 touchdown passes on the season as he threw touchdown passes of 7, 20, 37 and 68 yards.
Analysis: The 6-foot, 185-pound prospect is a well-round athlete who has the ability to beat you with both his arm and his legs. He has a good frame and body thickness and does a good job feeling pressure and has the ability to escape. He showcases a strong arm as he made a number of throws from the far hash to the far out.
Billy Ricci Billy Ricci 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Wallington | 2022 NJ | Wallington
Ricci completed 63% of his passes as he was 21 of 33 for 352 yards and five touchdowns in Wallington 32-20 victory over Becton. He threw touchdown passes of 2, 14, 28, 31 and 33 yards. He has now thrown for 1,676 yards and 21 touchdowns on the season.
Analysis: Ricci does a good job standing tall in the pocket and allowing the play to develop in front of him. He’s always keeping his eyes downfield and does a nice job looking off the defenders before delivering the ball to his open receivers.
Jahki Coates Jahki Coates 6'1" | 230 lbs | QB Salem | 2023 State NJ | Salem
Coates completed 78% of his passes as he was 14 of 18 passing for 350 yards and three touchdowns. The dual-threat also got it done with his feet as he rushed five times for 15 yards and two more scores. His strong performance helped Salem to a 48-13 victory over Penns Grove.
Analysis: Coates is another dual-threat who can get it done with both his arm and his legs. When throwing the ball he shows good arm strength on intermediate throws as he’s got the strength and velocity to fit the ball into tight windows. When he’s running the ball he’s a vicious downhill runner who isn’t afraid to take on contact and work for extra yards.
Campbell Pivnick | Parsippany
Pivnick led the state in passing attempts in Week 8 as he completed 29 of his 47 passing attempts. He ended the game by throwing for 341 yards and three touchdowns in Parsippany’s 47-18 loss to Verona. He threw touchdown passes of 9, 11 and 24 yards.
Analysis: The southpaw has a quick release and showcases above-average arm strength. He does a good job getting the ball to his receivers as soon as they are getting out of their breaks which allows them to pick up yards after the catch. He’s got a smooth motion and nice touch on intermediate to deep routes.
Devin Kargman Devin Kargman 6'2" | QB Woodrow Wilson | 2022 State NJ | Woodrow Wilson
Kargman once again showed why he’s one of the top quarterback prospects in the state as he completed 17 of 28 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns in Woodrow Wilson’s 52-12 victory over Pleasantville. He threw touchdown passes of 5, 30 and 40 yards.
Analysis: Kargman showed again why he’s one of the top signal-callers in the state. He’s got good zip on short-to-intermediate passes and flashes plus vertical arm capacity and good velocity on intermediate-to-long passes. He consistently makes on-target throws from the pocket and shows he’s capable of pushing the ball downfield.
