In this article:
This season in Nebraska, special teams have been a hot topic amongst football fans. We are covering the top kickers in the state as they could be the difference for their respective teams as the playoffs are near.
Noah Boyd | Skutt Catholic | 5’10″ 165 LBS | Class of 2023
FG: 7/8, 87.5% | PAT: 12/14, 85.7% | KO Avg: 55.8 YDS | Punt Avg: 34.5 YDS
Noah has a strong, dependable leg. His longest field goal on the year is 47 yards and has proven to be an asset for Skutt this year. During one of their biggest games of the year, he kicked 4 Field Goals, including the game-winner in OT versus Waverly. Noah’s time in soccer has really helped pay dividends on the football field.
Alex Langenfeld | Archbishop Bergan Catholic | 6’2″ 170 LBS | Class of 2024
FG: 2/3, 66.7% | PAT: 52/55, 94.5% | KO Avg: 43.6 YDS
Alex has a ton of potential. He has played the center-back position in soccer mostly and did not hit the football field until his freshman year. Since then he has only set a school record with the longest field goal (44 YD) and most consecutive PATs. Still learning his way through the kicking game, he has hit from a long of 31 YDS this year and is kicking off down inside the 10-yard line on a regular basis.
Kellen Gorr | Lincoln East | 5’10″ 170 LBS | Class of 2022
FG: 4/5, 80% | PAT: 44/46, 95.7% | KO Avg: 55 YDS
Kellen has had plenty of opportunities to score this year with Lincoln East’s offensive success and has capitalized on it. He has missed a total of 3 kicks combined this year, with his longest field goal made is 27 yards. He does a great job keep the opposing team’s return game in check, allowing minimal chances to return kickoffs. He hasn’t had much of a chance to show that leg strength on field goals but with the postseason almost here, it could come into play.
