With that being said, lets take a look at the top performances on the defensive side from week 7.
Sr., Michael Estremera Woodrow Wilson High School
Mr. Estremera was a ball magnet. He helped his team seal a victory over Holy Spirit 28-12. He finished with three interceptions and one was returned for a touchdown. Estremera contributed in the run game as well collecting ten total tackles. Estremera entered this game without any interceptions on the season. Once opposing teams watch the tape they will know not to throw his way. Estremera will look to build on his amazing performance against Pleasantville on Friday.
Sr., DB Evan Sobieski , Old Bridge High School
Mr. Sobieski had a solid performance against Hillsborough. He had 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF and 7 tackles. Sobieski is a big corner who is used everywhere on the field. He can play in the box and even cover opposing teams #1 receiver. Sobieski is a versatile athlete who has no problem helping in run support. He currently leads his team in interceptions with five on the season. Sobieski is starting to get some attention from colleges due to his remarkable performances this season. He will look to continue to play at a high level against J.P Stevens on Friday.
Sr., DB Ken Selby , St. Augustine Prep
Mr. Selby who is a Sacred Heart University commit was lock down against Vineland. Selby had an interception and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown. He is a corner that most quarterbacks fear throwing to. He will make you pay every time. Selby has a total of four interceptions this year and he is making his senior campaign one to remember. Selby should make an immediate impact at Sacred Heart next year in the secondary. He has the frame to become a safety at the next level and he isn’t afraid to stick his nose in and tackle. Expect Selby to finish the season strong and enter the postseason with plenty of confidence.
Sr., LB Nyair Graham Nyair Graham 6'1" | LB Camden | 2022 State NJ , Camden High School
Mr. Graham is a force to be wrecking with in the interior. Graham had 8 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 TFL against Pleasantville. He does a great job defeating blocks regardless of the double team. Graham has excelled at keeping his pad level low and playing with good leverage. He has sneaky athleticism making it difficult for linemen to block him. Graham is physical at the point of attack and never takes a play off. Camden is still in the haunt for a playoff berth so expect Graham to play with more physicality and urgency.
Sr., DT Will Marable , Holy Spirit High School
Mr. Marable had a great performance. Marable had 3 sacks against Woodrow Wilson but could not pull away with the victory. Marable had the most sacks in a single game in the state of New Jersey last Friday. His performance deserved to be recognized. Holy Spirit will need Marable to have continue to dominate if they would want a spot in the playoffs. These next three games for Holy Spirit are crucial and Marable will be a key factor.
