Plenty of big games occurred and playoff positioning is starting to shake out and we once again had some excellent team and individual performances. As always, we will discuss the impressive team performances and focus on some individual performances that lit up the Friday night sky.
The first thing we learned is that Bentonville and Fayetteville are dangerous teams to contend with in the 7-A West. Fayetteville grabbed a win at Harmon Field on Friday night and proved that this team can beat anyone. Quarterback Bladen Fike Bladen Fike 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR had an impressive night finding Jalen Blackburn Jalen Blackburn 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR and Dylan Kittell Dylan Kittell 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR for touchdowns on Friday night. Oregon commit Isaiah Sategna Isaiah Sategna 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR escaped for a 68-yard touchdown run as well. Fayetteville got a huge win 42-34 and set the stage for what should be exciting close to the season. One player that grabbed the spotlight on Friday for the Bulldogs was defensive back Jaxon Taylor Jaxon Taylor 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR . Taylor had two interceptions, one for a pick six and a fumble recovery. I would not be surprised to see Bentonville and Fayetteville matchup in the playoffs.
In another big matchup this week, the Conway Wampus Cats traveled to Fort Smith to take on Fort Smith Northside. This game was a hard-hitting matchup that went down to the wire with Conway pulling out the victory. Conway quarterback Donovyn Omolo Donovyn Omolo 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Conway | 2024 State AR made just enough plays to beat the Grizzlies 23-21. Conway has been on a roll since a tough loss earlier in the season to Fayetteville. Eventually the Wampus Cats and Bryant will meet up and this going to be a game with massive playoff implications. However, Conway and Northside are both in good shape as the playoffs loom.
One team that continues to rack up wins this is the Lonoke Jackrabbits. Lonoke is 6-1 on the season and a big part of that success is because of quarterback Bradon Allen Bradon Allen 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Lonoke | 2024 State AR . Allen has been accurate with his throws all season and he gives the Jackrabbits a quarterback that can throw the deep ball. However, Allen is the type of quarterback that is possibly more dangerous scrambling outside of the pocket and picking up yardage with his legs. Lonoke is a team to watch out for this season as the playoffs draw closer.
The last team that we are going to take a look at is a team that has played impressively all season and that is the Gentry Pioneers. Gentry suffered a loss to a Shiloh Christian team that is one of the hottest in the state on Friday. However, that does not change the fact the Pioneers are 6-1 on the season and making a strong playoff push. Quarterback Chris Bell has become a player to watch out for this season. Bell has displayed excellent touch on the football, and he makes good decisions with he ball. Gentry has a tough matchup against Prairie Grove this coming Friday and Prep RedZone Arkansas will be in attendance this Friday night.
The bottom line is teams still have plenty to play for as the regular season comes to a close. Playoff spots are on the line, and this is going to be a fun time of year to scout and watch the game. The state of Arkansas plenty of talent and it is a great time of year to get out and watch a game!
