With the Early Signing Period just two months away, now is an important time for prospects to start making taking their recruitment to the next level.
Here are a few prospects who made their college commitments this week
Mykel Williams Mykel Williams 6'5" | 255 lbs | DL Hardaway | 2022 State GA – EDGE – Hardaway
One of the top edge defenders in the country, the five-star from Columbus is an elite pass-rusher who has been terrorizing QBs his entire career. Williams has an excellent frame and knows how to run it in. His length gives him an opportunity to get off blocks with ease and he has a natural pass rush from the outside. He’s tough to contain as he can overpower smaller tackles and blow past bigger, non-athletic tackles in the region. He’s absolutely dominating at the high school level and hasn’t been stopped all season. So far this year, Williams has made 45 total tackles, 17.5 TFLs, and 10.5 sacks already. He’s a QB’s worst nightmare and now he’ll be getting after SEC QBs over the next few years.
As far has his recruitment goes, Williams has been a high-level prospect for years now. He was always big, and he showed impressive athleticism early on. He’s a natural defender can can be just too much for opposing offensive linemen. He’s explosive off the edge but can also push his opponent backwards to disrupt the run game. Sources say Prep Redzone that Williams almost committed to Georgia back in the spring, but once visits were allowed to happen, Williams fell in love with USC and the California lifestyle, and verbally committed to play for the Trojans in mid-June. Southern Cal has since fired their head coach, leaving the door open for schools like Georgia to sweep in. Of course earlier this week, Williams flipped from Southern California to Georgia, giving the Bulldogs another fierce pass rusher for the future.

Aubrey Smith Aubrey Smith 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Buford | 2022 State GA – LB – Buford
It’s been a long time coming for the three-star linebacker from Gwinnett County. Smith was a guy who earned quite a few D1 offers early in the process, and he’s been a reliable defender for the Wolves the past few seasons. Buford has has one of the stingiest defenses in the state over the last few years and Smith is a major reason why. One of the most experienced players on the team, the veteran linebacker is as versatile as it gets and knows how to play multiple linebacker spots. He’s playing Buford’s “Falcon” position this year, giving him an opportunity to make lots of plays in space. He’ll be a candidate to lead the team in tackles and will lead the group as a senior the rest of the way.
As for as his recruitment goes, Smith chose to play for the Colorado Buffaloes over offers from Arizona State, Auburn and Baylor.
Excited to announce my commitment to The University of Colorado!!💛🖤 @CoachApp35 @Coach_Davis22 @ChadSimmons_ @AndyWangCU @BufordGAPrspcts @coachmarksmith pic.twitter.com/fXmKVaztvg

Jordan McDonald Jordan McDonald 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Milton | 2022 State GA – RB – Milton
One of the most productive backs in all of North Georgia, McDonald is a big, bruising back who breaks tackles as well as any back you’ll find in the peach state. He runs hard behind his pads and he’s one of the best goal-line backs in the area. McDonald scored SIX touchdowns this past weekend against arch rival Roswell, and today he committed to play at UCF, choosing the Knights over South Carolina. The 6-foot-1 220-pounder has been excellent so far this year as a senior, accounting for 12 TDs so far this season. He can get the tough yards in the trenches but can take off down the field for a long score as well. Looking for him to continue punishing defenders the rest of the fall as Milton attempts to make a 7A title run next month.
