Quince Orchard vs Northwest
This is not only the game of the week but it is the game of the season in Montgomery county. Two undefeated teams, the two top teams in the county, in one of the biggest rivalry games in the state. This game will be a must-watch for any high school football fan.
Quince Orchard player to watch: Donovan Brown Donovan Brown 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Quince Orchard | 2022 State MD – The Syracuse commit will have an opportunity to leave his mark on this game. Northwest has elite athletes at wideout and defensive back, so it will be imperative for Brown to have a big game. He will need to use his large frame to come down with contested balls to help move the ball against this stingy Northwest defense.
Northwest player to watch: Daryl Harper – With defenses keying in on Kikwata and Anderson this has allowed Harper more opportunities to make plays. He is explosive with the ball in his hands. He is also a great route runner and does a great job of getting open. He will have to be big for Northwest if they want to move the ball through the air.
Paint Branch vs Sherwood
Most people see these teams as the 3rd and 4th best teams in the county outside of Northwest and Quince Orchard. This game will be won in the trenches as both teams have some really good lineman. Don’t be surprised if the winner of this game uses this momentum to make a deep playoff run.
Paint Branch player to watch: Shaun Lee – Lee is one of the best guards in the county. He is extremely mobile and does a great job pulling. He also plays with great pad level and has quick hands. He will be key to helping Paint Branch run the football against this tough Sherwood front.
Sherwood player to watch: Nathan Natoli – Natoli is one of the most dominant linemen in the county. He is big, strong, and has great technique. Paint Branch is always known for having one of the top defenses in the county so he will be key in helping his offense move the ball.
Richard Montgomery vs Churchill
Richard Montgomery is coming off a big win against Walter Johnson. Churchill has won 6 straight games and can add another quality win to their resume if they can win this game. A win here for both teams would be crucial for seeding.
Richard Montgomery player to watch: Anthony Dixon – Dixon will be coming into this game with high confidence after his record-breaking performance last week. He has a strong arm and does a great job with his timing. Churchill has an extremely strong defense so if Dixon can continue his production he could be really tough to stop come playoff time.
Churchill player to watch: Jaden Selby – Selby has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the county. He is a quarterback that can do it all. He can great throw power, has great touch, and can also move out the pocket and extend plays. If he plays well the offense will be able to put up some points on this Richard Montgomery defense.
Seneca Valley vs Walter Johnson
Both of these teams enter the game with a 4-3 record. This makes this game a crucial game for both teams as the difference between 5-3 and 4-4 is huge especially when it comes to playoff seeding. Expect both teams to treat this game like a must-win.
Seneca Valley player to watch: Tylek Bright – Bright has a legit argument for county MVP. He is a huge part of what Seneca does on both offense and defense. On offense, he is their main ball carrier and their leading rusher. On defense, he is a disruptive player that can get in the backfield and make plays. Walter Johnson will have their hands full dealing with Bright.
Walter Johnson player to watch: Will Gardner – Gardner started off the season red hot. He has had a rough couple of games. This needs to be a big bounce-back week for him. He can make throws from inside and outside of the pocket so expect Walter Johnson to air it out against Seneca Valley.
