Continue ReadingHouston high school football had an amazing week 9. Their were tons of great games that took place. Since, the regular season is ending in two week these games determined if a lot of these teams were going to make playoffs or not. The following games I’ll be going over are;
CE Kings Panthers (6-2) vs North Shore Mustangs (8-1)
North Shore Mustangs vs CE Kings Panthers was highly anticipated district game. The Mustangs started off strong with two touchdowns in the 1st quarter and kept up the momentum by keeping C.E Kings at a standstill. The final score was 17-0 with North Shore Mustangs being victorious.
Klein Cain Hurricanes (7-2) vs Klein Oak Panthers (3-5)
Klein Cain Hurricanes vs Klein Oak Panthers was another big district game. This game guaranteed Klein Cain spot in the playoff after they destroyed Klein Oak Panthers. They started off strong scoring three touchdowns in the 1st quarter. The final score was 31-3 with Klein Cain Hurricanes coming out on top. Klein Cain standout player was #11 Carson Roper Carson Roper 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Klein Cain | 2022 State TX senior quarterback. Roper is a great quarterback with a phenomenal arm, but what really stood out to me was his speed and scrambling skills. Most of the time Roper preferred to run the ball himself rather than passing it. Roper was able to rush in for two touchdowns himself. Roper ended the night with 18 carries, 90 rushing yards, threw 1 touchdown pass and rushed in the end zone himself for two touchdowns.
Katy Paetow Panthers (8-0) vs Hightower Hurricanes (6-2)
Katy Paetow Panthers vs Hightower Hurricanes was a totally shutdown. Paetow has a great team this year they have remained undefeated for good reason. Paetow was able to score two touchdowns every quarter and only allowed Hightower Hurricanes one in total. The final score was 55-7 Katy Paetow Panthers won. Katy Paetow Panthers standout player was #15 CJ Dumas senior quarterback. Dumas is a great quarterback he specializes in throwing quick dart passes. Dumas is also mobile if needed he’s able to get out of trouble and run in for a 1st down. Dumas ended the night by throwing four touchdown passes.
Angleton Wildcats (6-2) vs Foster Falcons (4-5)
Angleton Wildcats vs Foster Falcons had a really great game Friday night. Throughout the whole game you couldn’t tell who would come out on top. Foster was winning at 1st, however Angleton came back towards the end with a final score of 26-25 Angleton Wildcats talk about a nail bitter. Angleton Wildcats standout player is #2 A.J. Rice senior wide receiver. Rice had an amazing game he has speed and technique. Rice played as a slot receiver and he very effective for the Angleton Wildcats. Rice at the end of the night only have three receptions, but every time Rice touched the ball he scored. These three receiving touchdowns were key to Angleton Wildcats winning against the Foster Falcons.
Pearland Dawson Eagles (6-2) vs Alvin Yellowjackets (4-4)
Pearland Dawson Eagles vs Alvin Yellowjackets was a game The Yellowjackets needed to win. Alvin Yellowjackets needed to win this district game in order to make playoffs. Unfortunately, Pearland Dawson Eagles came out on top with a score of 35-21. The standout player for The Dawson Eagles was #1 Ashton Stroman senior wide receiver. Dawson is a strong run team meaning for Stroman being able to standout with the lack of throwing and passing is impressive. Stroman was the main receiver being thrown and catching the most passes for Dawson. Stroman ended the night with five receptions, 180 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
