Florida Gators Offer 8th Grade QB Prospect
In the ever-changing recruiting game, it’s becoming more and more common to see 8th grade student-athletes picking offers from major power 5 schools. This weekend, that dream was realized by class of 2026 quarterback Sabby Meassick Sabby Meassick 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Tohopekaliga | 2026 State FL , who picked up an offer from the University of Florida.
Meassick, a consummate leader by all accounts, has been working towards his first offer for a number of years. Being the big Tom Brady fan that he is, his youth resume is comparable to accomplishments TB12 has notched in the NFL:
- Has suited up for FBU Tampa and FBU Orlando
- 4-time FBU Top Gun invite
- FBU Top Gun Top Performer in 2020 and 2021
- XOs Top Performer
- Invite to Hotbed Middle School All-American Game 2020 via Golden ticket
- Invite to Under Armour Middle School All American Game (2020)
- Invite to Pro Football Hall of Fame Middle School Showcase
- 7on7 Rat Pak & CFL All-Stars QB
Now a varsity quarterback for Foundation Academy High School, he seems to be picking up where he’s left off on the youth level. In the past 12 months, he was grown 3 inches and gained 20 pounds. Now standing 6-foot and 165 pounds, the future looks bright for the young signal caller.
The magical moment took place this weekend in Gainesville, as the 20th ranked Florida Gators welcomed Vanderbilt to the Swamp and proceeded to blank the visitors 42-0.
Sabby’s father took to social media to express his thoughts:
“From the age of 4 to present what he has gone through, the sacrifices he’s made, sacrifices we’ve made as a family, and what we will go through to hit the top of the mountain is due to his desire to be great for his team, love for the game, will to work.
He earned his first D1 football scholarship offer today from a program that he has grown up watching and is near and dear to him, the University of Florida. This one hits different.
This is a milestone for him to continue to work, stay humble, hungry and elevate like he knows.
He’s earned every ounce, we’ve been through so much together, more than anyone can imagine, however he’s always pushed, stay focused and worked.
I am so proud of my son, we never forget where we come from or where we are going. This is the beginning of what this life has planned for him. Not sure what the future holds but we’re all in.
Dreams do come true if you believe it and work for it. He told me when he was 5 he wanted to be a Gator. He’s 1 step closer.
Go Gators, Gainesville is special and quite honestly feels like home every time we visit. From day 1 years ago, Coach Mullen and his staff have had a love and vibe for Sabby.”
