An offensive lineman is listed at a height and weight that can’t possibly be accurate. A 6-foot-6 player is actually closer to 6-foot-3. All 320 pounds of a recruit is more like 275. But trust us when we tell you that the current sophomore linemen we included in the Class of 2024 rankings are every bit of what they say they are.
What’s more, each of them are battle-tested starters helping to lead some pretty good offenses while keeping the guys across the line at bay more often than not.
6. Brady Pickett Brady Pickett 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Myrtle Beach | 2024 State SC (6-2, 250), Myrtle Beach
Pickett moved in from out-of-state during the offseason and quickly caught on right tackle. Pickett (and the rest of the Seahawks’ linemen) play wider sets than most, meaning he’s responsible for covering more ground laterally. He’s done a solid job so far.
5. Christian Echols Christian Echols 6'4" | 250 lbs | OL Silver Bluff | 2024 State SC (6-4, 220), Silver Bluff
Echols is blocking for one of the best backs in the state in Traevon Dunbar Traevon Dunbar 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Midland Valley | 2024 State SC , and left tackle is charged with doing more than just bull-rushing opponents. Echols releases extremely well from his spot at left tackle, often popping a linebacker or defensive back.
4. Slayton Stokes Slayton Stokes 6'5" | 325 lbs | OL Hartsville | 2024 State SC (6-5, 300), Hartsville
Stokes has already played both center and guard this year thanks to some offseason injuries and player depletions due exposures. He’s doing amicably at both now, and that experience early will only make him better in the years to come.
3. Josiah Thompson Josiah Thompson 6'7" | 290 lbs | OL Dillon | 2024 State SC (6-6, 290), Dillon
When we got a head shot of Thompson a few weeks back, holding the camera at eye level wasn’t an option. Thompson is a fully loaded 6-foot-6, and even if he doesn’t even another inch, his recruitment will hit the next level sooner rather than later.
2. Braylen Kitty Braylen Kitty 6'4" | 240 lbs | TE Hilton Head | 2024 State SC (6-5, 260), Hilton Head
Kitty went from a lightly used freshman to a mainstay as a sophomore. He’s got a couple of SEC offers in his back pocket already, but that hasn’t slowed him down one bit. Kitty has a staff committed to making him even bigger and perfecting his technique.
1. Kam Pringle Kam Pringle 6'7" | 305 lbs | OL Woodland | 2024 State SC (6-7, 295), Woodland
There are a gazillion clips of Pringle manhandling undersized defenders. And while that’s fun for fans, what insiders are noticing his how he pivots inside or out, keeps his feet moving properly and not relying solely on his long reach. He’s developed and he’s polished.
