Ranked #3 in Houston Atascocita Eagles (7-2) vs #4 in Houston North Shore Mustangs (9-1). I have seen both these two teams play before and have been following their progress throughout the whole season. Coming into this game I thought both teams were evenly matched it was hard to say who would win this game. When the game started my assessment was correct neither team could score nor completely stop the other. Both teams were tied at half. However, after the half North Shore Mustangs scored on the 1st play of the 3rd quarter giving them the momentum for the rest of the game. The final score was 31-21 with The North Shore Mustangs coming out victorious. Unfortunately, Atascocita Eagles lost they’re still top 5 in Houston. They had a lot of standouts on both sides of the ball I’ll be discussing the offensive standouts.
#5 Zion Brown QB So 6’0 170 lbs
Atascocita Eagles young quarterback Zion Brown is at it again. From when I saw Zion back in week seven he has definitely improved. Zion has improved his passing skills and seems like a more experienced quarterback now. Zion still has his speed if needed he can still run the ball to get the 1st down and more. Zion was very mobile and threw great passes him and wide receivers were both in sync. Zion was able to throw three touchdown passes.
#1 Chase Sowell WR Sr 6’3 195 lbs
The main receiver for Zion was #1 Chase Sowell. Chase is a fast and tall wide receiver with exceptional footwork. On one play Chase was running down the field took a quick step to the right, zoom down the left, was wide open for a pass and got a 59 yard touchdown. It was one of the best moves I saw all night anyone would of been tripped up by that quick step. Chase is a college prospect having four offers from Sam Houston State University, University of Northern Iowa, Howard Payne University and UTSA. Chase ended the night with two receiving touchdowns.
#6 Tyras Winfield RB, WR Sr 5’9 175 lbs
Tyras Winfield was a very efficient wide receiver. Tyras was fast off usually beating his defender and getting open early for a pass. Tyras was mainly used for quick slant passes always putting Atascocita in a great spot. Tyras averaged a good amount of yards and a lot of 1st downs. Tyras is a college prospect having three offers from East Texas Baptist University, Arkansas Tech and Louisiana College.
#24 Ja’Marri Green Ja’Marri Green 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Livingston | 2024 State TX RB, WR So 6’1 185 lbs
One thing I can say about The Atascocita Eagles they have some great underclassmen. Ja’Marri Green Ja’Marri Green 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Livingston | 2024 State TX didn’t play a lot, but when he did he definitely stood out. Not only is Ja’marri fast he’s also a powerful runner. Ja’marri was very tenacious and persistent he was very hard to bring down. Ja’marri caught a pass and was able to fight his way into the end zone with three defenders trying to wrap him up. Ja’marri ended the night with one receiving touchdown.
