Colby Laughton Colby Laughton 5'11" | 190 lbs | WR Westwood | 2023 State NJ , WR/DB, 6’0 185 lbs
One of the lone stars on offense for the Cardinals, Laughton displayed his above-average abilities at WR. Tallying up 1 receiving TD for Westwood, his hands and catching-in-traffic abilities stood out. Route running was decent, but it was Laughton’s size that carried him to success vs. smaller DB’s. A couple contested catches in the red zone came up incomplete, but that is easily fixable moving forward. Although the TD came in garbage time, his scramble-drill skills & hunger to finish out the game is something that all college scouts want to see in a player.
Joey Giordano, RB/LB, 5’8 175 lbs
It took a little bit of time to get going due to Ramsey’s front seven causing havoc, but once Giordano found his step he was able to make the most of it. A smaller back, Giordano’s forte was creating space at times when it looked like there was no where to go. Although he does have above average speed, it was his agility that stood out. If Westwood can find a way to get him the ball with enough space and push from the OL, Giordano should see more success in the season.
Robbie Carcich, DB, 6’2 175 lbs
Carcich wasn’t a major contributor throughout the game, but the plays he did make help set the Cardnials up in scoring position every single time. His 31 yard fumble return on Westwood’s first defensive drive set up the first score of the game and bring momentum to the Cardinals. He also had a nice kick return, reading his blockers up the middle before the first half ended to set the Cardinals up with great field position. Only a sophomore, Carcich is a player that has the potential to develop into something great as his career continues.
