This week, I’ll be highlighting 4 matchups that will all have huge impacts on league standings and playoff seedings. I could see all 8 featured teams on this list compete for a state championship, so this is an especially exciting week. Check out this week’s games to watch.
Games to Watch
(5-0) Clarkston @ (4-1) West Bloomfield: Looking at the current OAA Red standings, this game is likely going to decide the entire league. Clarkston is looking as good as they’ve ever been, blowing out good teams and when the games are close, they always find a way to win. The catalyst for their success has been their big 6’6 QB Mike DePillo Mike DePillo 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Clarkston | 2022 State MI , in addition to a good defense led by MLB Caleb Stalworth. As for West Bloomfield, they’ve been playing well since the week 1 loss against Adams. As usual, they have many big-time players who constantly make big-time plays. More specifically, I’m really looking at the biggest recruits in Dillon Tatum Dillon Tatum 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH West Bloomfield | 2022 State MI and Kyle Johnson Kyle Johnson 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB West Bloomfield | 2022 MI to come up big. Both of these teams are sure state championship contenders, and this one is going to be incredibly fun to watch.
(3-2) Brother Rice @ (4-1) St. Mary Prep: As I said in my Brother Rice Team Preview, they have an exceptionally hard schedule and so far, they’ve been good against elite competition. Though unfortunately for them, they find themselves in last place in the extremely elite league that is Catholic – Central. Brother Rice sports one of the best linebacker cores in the state with Brayden Willis and Ryan Ervin, and I’m really expecting them to ball out considering the defensive mind of Coach K. On the other side of things, St. Mary Prep is just as talented, plus they’ve got home-field advantage. If Anthony Ozog can consistently bust through the Warrior O line, they’ve got the advantage. This should be a great game between two playoff teams.
(4-1) Catholic Central @ (4-0) De La Salle Collegiate: I mean, how could it get better than this? Two of the most storied programs face-off, and the winner will likely win the catholic league. Catholic Central is coming off a surprising blowout win against rival Brother Rice, while De La Salle is coming off a similar blowout against St. Mary Prep. De La Salle has an incredible amount of talent, but I’m really looking forward to seeing CB Dionte’ Dandridge Jr. face off against WR Brady Blakita.
(4-1) Chippewa Valley @ (4-1) Sterling Heights Stevenson: This is a huge battle that will likely decide the Macomb are Red. Stevenson is looking pretty incredible, having scored no more than 30 points in every game, while having a good defense. Their only loss is against Rockford, which may be the best team on the West side. Chippewa Valley has an equally impressive resume with huge wins against Catholic Central and Romeo. Without a doubt, this game is huge. With big games like this, it’s going to be a showcase of the best talent on both teams. This means a matchup between Chippewa QB Ryan Schuster Ryan Schuster 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Chippewa Valley | 2022 State MI against Stevenson MLB Jordan Kwiatkowski Jordan Kwiatkowski 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Adlai Stevenson | 2022 State MI .
