In fact, only one player who was on our last list last time is still within the state’s top 4 leaders in sacks. This player happens to be Jaylen George Jaylen George 6'2" | 250 lbs | OL Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , who went from being the state’s leader in sacks during our last update, to being in 4th place in this current installment. Along with this, Dion Crawford, out of Collins Hill, was one of the top ranked sack leaders last update, and has now dropped out of the top 4, to the 5th ranked spot. Because the race is really close, we expect this list to continue to shake up more and more as the year goes by, but one thing will remain true, the best players will always find their way to leave their mark.
Ty Anderson- (LB) Thomasville High
So far, after 4 weeks, Anderson leads the entire state of Georgia in sacks, with 7, and does so by only 1 sack. While this is a very small margin, a player of Anderson’s caliber can continue to add on to his total very easily, only solidifying the reason why he has claimed the spot that he has. As proof of this, one can look at his week 4 numbers, and see how easily he can do this. During week 4, he totaled 17 tackles, with 2 sacks. Even before this, he has managed to accumulate 2 sacks in every game but 1. This ability only further solidifies the power 5 offers he had began to rack up last year.
Kenwan Felton- (DE) Macon County
Kenwan Felton may not have been on our list last time, but he has slowly started to make a name for himself out in Macon County. After only 3 games, he has already totaled 6 sacks. To accomplish this total, Felton managed to get a sack in week 1, while making 3 sacks in week 2, and finishing week 3 with 2 more. Along the way, he has also made a big splash for his defense, as he has made huge stops for his team, while also totaling 21 tackles so far this year. In doing so, 19 of these are solo tackles.
Asani Redwood- (DE) Collins Hill
Redwood, who has made our list for the first time, is only 1 of 3 players from Collins Hill that are top 5 in the state in sack totals. This in itself proves how impressive the program he is a part of is, and shows that he is also one of a kind to be able to lead his group. To do so, he had to overtake Jaylen George Jaylen George 6'2" | 250 lbs | OL Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , and Dion Crawford in the rankings. While he may be in a 3 way tie for 6 sacks, his individual success outside of this helps to solidify his placement. This season, he averages about 9.3 tackles a game, and already has a total of 28 tackles. 16 of these tackles are solo tackles. As the season progresses, it will be very interesting to see if he can keep it up, and hold off his teammates from jumping him on this list.
Jaylen George Jaylen George 6'2" | 250 lbs | OL Collins Hill | 2022 State GA – (DE) Collins Hill
George may have been 1st on our list last time around, but this time around, he has dropped 3 spots. Typically, this would be due to a lack of production, but in George’s case, it is not. Not only are his fellow teammates stepping up to the plate with sacks as well, but he is only in second place by 1 sack. While he sits at 6 sacks on the year after 3 games, his contribution has helped his team to a 3-0 record, while also opening up windows of opportunity for his fellow DL. In fact, he manages to still be in the top 4 even though he did not get a sack last week. If this isn’t an indicator of how big of a force he is, we don’t know what would be.
