Teams and players started to make some noise and grabbed the spotlight once again this week – and we are going to continue to recognize that.
Along with our daily prospect and team information, we have the opportunity to promote and expose more prospects than anyone in Florida.
With a strong social media following on Twitter – we have now brought in players, coaches, fans, students and administrators from all over Florida.
WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE?
Like last week, when the openers produced some memorable performances, we are at it once again on this Monday.
Here are some of top performers in Week 2. Remember, you have until every Saturday night to submit your top performers. We pick just a certain amount every week to make it special. Too many and it dilutes the meaning of being a Top Performer!
Tampa Jesuit sophomore quarterback Luke Knight threw a 9-yard scoring strike to senior wide receiver Jayden Girard in the closing seconds for a 24-21 victory over national power St. Thomas Aquinas. Junior running back Joquez Smith Joquez Smith 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Tampa Jesuit | 2023 FL ran for 172 yards (146 in the first half).
Gunnar Smith Gunnar Smith 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Lake Mary | 2022 FL , QB, Lake Mary completed 13 passes for 296 yards and 5 scores in a 38-14 win over Winter Park. Markel Jones, a junior receiver, caught three touchdown passes and Logan Cook caught 2.
Daytona Beach Seabreeze junior QB Blake Boda Blake Boda 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Cocoa | 2023 FL accounted for 5 touchdowns in a 43-8 win over Ocala Forest. Jeremy West-Pirtle had four sacks in the opening quarter with a safety.
Jacksonville Trinity Christian Academy freshman QB, Colin Hurley completed 18 passes for 334 yards and 4 scores in a 37-0 win over Jacksonville Ribault.
Junior tailback JoJo Restall JoJo Restall 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Orange Park | 2023 FL finished with more than 250 yards to lead Orange Park to a 38-7 win over Ridgeview.
A.J. Cortese ran for three touchdowns and Caleb Crawford tallied two as Union County scored 36 second-half points for a 50-21 win over Bradford County.
Junior running back Giovanna Wamble rushed 26 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns, with Jaden McCall scoring the final TD as Marianna beat North Florida Christian, 35-28.
Blountstown rushed for 345 yards as a team led by Amarion Hover’s 107 yards on 12 carries, with Elam Johnson adding 84 yards on 11 attempts in a 48-27 victory over Lanier County, Georgia.
Parkland Douglas moved to 2-0 with a win over Coconut Creek. Quarterback Ryan Spallina completed 15 passes for 285 yards and LB Gabriel Lenamon had 12 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, two sacks and a safety. Spallina is the leading passer in Florida after two weeks.
Senior QB Cole Rogers (Bradenton St. Stephen’s Episcopal) had 4 touchdowns (2 rushing, 2 throwing) and over 200 yards.
Pembroke Pines Flanagan DE Donnell Johnson II had 3 sacks, 4 tackles for loss and 8 total tackles.
Gainesville Buchholz standout WR Quan Lee Quan Lee 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Gainesville Buchholz | 2022 State FL , who verbally committed to UCF, rushed for more than 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a score in a 28-7 win over host Jacksonville Sandalwood.
South Fort Myers standout Nathan Castor scored on TD runs of 56 and 66, and returned an interception 100 yards in a 36-24 win over Fort Myers.
Gage Malkin threw five scoring passes and Eddie Combs caught a pair of scoring strikes as Satellite rolled to a 37-16 win over Eau Gallie.
Miami Edison junior WR Nathaniel Joseph Nathaniel Joseph 5'9" | 175 lbs | WR Miami Edison | 2023 State FL caught three touchdowns and ignited the Red Raiders to a win. He is one of the country’s best.
Senior kicker/punter Jack Brooks Jack Brooks P Tallahassee Leon | 2022 FL , Tallahassee Leon kicked 2 field goals (47, 34), has six touchbacks and hit all his extra points.
Oniel Senatus ran for 255 yards 3 TDs and added 8 tackles (7 solo), QB Dylan Davis completed 17 balls for 182 yards and 4 TDs in Celebration’s win.
Vero Beach QB Maurice Smith Maurice Smith WR Homestead Somerset Silver Palms | 2022 FL completed 28 passes for 367 yards and 3 TDs in a win over Bartow.
Junior QB Marquise Wright completed 16 of 18 passes for 320 yards and 3 TDs and added another score on the ground to lead Dade Christian.
Hudson QB Hunter Young continues to impress – completing 11 passes for 393 yards and 4 scores.
Zephyrhills senior RB Jaylin Thomas touched the ball just 8 times, but it paid off – with 231 yards and 3 scores.
Punta Gorda Charlotte senior LB Logan James finished his Friday night with 20 tackles, 5 solo, 4, tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 blocked pass.
Two-way standout Zach Malpica, senior LB/Athlete, Cape Coral Ida Baker finished with tackles on defense and 70 yards on offense with 2 scores.
Senior RB James Evans IV James Evans IV RB Tampa Bay Tech | 2022 FL , Tampa Bay Tech had 250 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 1 catch for 15 yards and 265 all purpose yards.
Lake Highland Prep improved to 2-0 with a 16-6 home win as Joey McCann threw a TD pass to Solomon Miller and Romero Ware rushed for a touchdown for the Highlanders. Alex Lusito added a 25-yard field goal.
