Nitareon Tuggle – Northwood – WR – 6’3″ 178 lbs
Tuggle was born to play out wide and he’s fantastic at it. He has the ball skills of your ideal alpha WR on the outside. He’s able to go up and come down with every ball that comes his way. Friday was no different and Tuggle was a man on a mission. He was open just about every time they dropped back to pass and hauled in everything that came his way. He’s a fantastic athlete and is the best player on the field when he shows up. He put on a clinic Friday and put on a dominant performance.
Ethan Evers Ethan Evers 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB NorthWood | 2023 State IN – Northwood – RB/LB – 5’11″ 165 lbs
Tuggle kept the passing game open and Evers kept the running game moving. He looked fantastic on Friday and was making defenders miss like they were on ice. Evers is consistent on every run and never takes a tackle for a loss. He’s a decent athlete and still learning the position but he’s learning on the fly and succeeding. He has a bright future at RB and if he continues to develop Northwood is going to have a fantastic problem on their hands when they have to decide whether to run with Evers or throw to Tuggle.
Tucker Curtis – Warsaw – QB – 6’0″ 170 lbs
Curtis was fantastic on Friday and rarely missed a throw. He was moving Warsaw up and down the field without any resistance from the defense. He delivered a strike on a post for a TD early in the game and then they started to pour it on. Curtis was playing pitch and catch with his receivers all game. Curtis doesn’t throw the prettiest ball but it gets to where it needs to go. He finished the game with well over 300-yards and 3 TDs.
Davion Taylor – Mishawaka – WR – 5’11″ 170 lbs
The first thing I noticed about Taylor is that he is a fantastic athlete and can make anyone miss. He’s best when they get the ball in his hands and they find creative ways to do it. It also helps that he has a knack for getting open so they can just throw it to him. He made one of the best TD grabs you’ll ever see. He laid out in the corner of the endzone, bobbled it but then held on to it and he landed with 1 toe-in for the score.
Rodney Gates – Elkhart – WR – 6’2″ 175 lbs
Gates is a dynamic WR who just happens to be very lengthy and has a great vertical. He’s able to make just about every catch if it comes into his radius. He’s able to work in the slot as well as on the outside. He’s able to run the deep routes and open up the defense as well. On Friday, he made a long TD grab. He caught the ball wide open and everyone knew there was no way anyone was catching him. He’s the fastest player on the field and he was gone. Gates is now on my radar moving forward and am very excited to see what he does in coming weeks.
