Prep RedZone Arkansas What We Learned Week 4
In this article:
Week four was a tremendous week of high school football in the Natural State. Week four brought with it the start of conference play in the state of Arkansas. As always, with every week during the season Prep RedZone learned a number of things over the weekend. We had plenty of standout performances from both teams and players over the weekend.
Starting things off in this article with the impressive performance from Little Rock Parkview on Thursday night. Arkansas commit James Jointer James Jointer 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Little Rock Parkview | 2022 State AR had a tremendous performance against a talented Greenwood Bulldogs team. Jointer rushed for five touchdowns and over 250 yards against the Bulldogs. Parkview has played well over the past few weeks and starting conference play off on the right note will be big for playoff positioning later in the season.
The upset of the weekend happened in Harrison. The Harrison Goblins jumped out to 35-10 lead over the Farmington Cardinals. Both teams were wanting to keep momentum going and gain an early lead in the 5-A West Conference. Farmington got tremendous effort on both sides of the ball and were able to pull out a dramatic come from behind victory and defeat Harrison on the road 36-35. The Cardinals are hot right now and looking to continue the run.
In the 7-A West Conference we learned that the Bentonville Tigers have a dangerous backfield combination at the running back position. Josh Ficklin Josh Ficklin 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Bentonville | 2023 State AR punched the ball in the end zone five times over the weekend. Christopher Collier-Surly Christopher Collier-Surly 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Bentonville | 2022 State AR came in to spell Ficklin and he displayed a willingness to run aggressively and run the defender over. Bentonville is a team to keep an eye on this season. Bentonville has the run-pass mix needed to keep the opposing defensive coordinators guessing.
The Fayetteville Bulldogs opened up conference play with an impressive victory over the Bentonville West Wolverines. Quarterback Bladen Fike Bladen Fike 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR found the end zone four times through the air. Oregon commit Isaiah Sategna Isaiah Sategna 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR was on the receiving end of two of those touchdown passes. Fayetteville should make things interesting in conference play.
Looking around the state of Arkansas. The Arkadelphia Badgers racked up an impressive victory over the Nashville Scrappers on Friday night. Arkadelphia seems to be clicking as conference play heats up this season. Max Wilson Max Wilson 6'2" | 250 lbs | LB Arkadelphia | 2023 State AR on the defensive side of the ball is the kind of player that can live in the opposing backfield if the opposing offensive line fails to account for him. The Badgers have the talent to make a playoff run this season.
For the undefeated Booneville Bearcats, week four was pretty much business as usual. A heavy dose of Randon Ray Randon Ray 5'8" | 150 lbs | RB Booneville | 2022 State AR and Dax Goff Dax Goff 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Booneville | 2024 State AR carrying the ball led to a 49-6 victory over Two Rivers. However, the same night Booneville found out that Danville does not have the players healthy enough to compete. Booneville found an opponent in Texas. Booneville will take on Timpson High School this Friday night. Should be a great game and a good test for the Bearcats.
With week four in the books, stay tuned for some previews throughout the week as well as Prime Time Players and what we learned. At this point in the season, teams still have plenty to play for. Get out and enjoy some Friday night lights this week!
